Here's my idea...and it's on hard copy and notarized...I am looking to build an alternate fuled motorcycle...There are power plants out there that run on various fuels and I want to make my billion in the market...Is there an engineer with motor building experience out there ? Write me at gerreynolds@msn.com.....and we'll disscuss your credentials...

You do want to make your mark on the world and while we're at it make us a few billion maybe? I'm sure you do, so write me and let's get on the ball.. Be prepared to come to Portland, Oregon USA ok?

1. It takes tens of millions of dollars to build or buy an auto or motorcycle plant. And how do you plan on setting up dealerships? What's your marketing strategy? Willing to share your business plan?

2. How are you worth your overhead? Most of my friends in ME are convinced they can work for GM or Ford for 10 years, and earn enough in pay and stock options to retire- or become a venture capitalist. And Harley-Davidson is a pretty good company when it comes to corporate responsibility; they'd probably be interested in an alternative energy motorcycle. Why go to you when they can take their idea to HD or a VC? If you are a venture capitalist, why should they go to you?

3. What percentage of the ownership is the engineer looking at? 50%? The pattern most engineers have seen is that the businessman makes the billions; the engineer's lucky if he comes out with seven figures.

PS: In your profile, I think it's spelled "edifice".

In the many years I've put into developing various technologies, I've learned a few things. One product I invented is being sold all over the nation, Canada and elsewhere, but I got essentially nothing from the Corporation that is selling it. The engineer frequently gets screwed.

1. Harley Davidson couldn't be trusted with an independent inventor's idea(s) 15 years ago, things might have changed by now, but I doubt it. They wanted to see the invention, but the legal paperwork they insisted on completely ripped off the inventor, I would've gotten nothing at all for it.

2. Most Ventire Capitalists can't be trusted any more than HD, or any other Corp. PROTECT YOURSELF, THOROUGHLY!

3. As many empty industrial buildings as we have in America now thanks to the BOOMING Bush economy, it would not neccessarily take 10s of millions to buy a building. Furthermore, most Corps lease the buildings they use for a variety of reasons, initial cash investment being a big one, tax issues a close second.

I really like the Portland area, was there about 2 years ago, but have too many of my own projects getting stacked up and must get some of those out the door asap. I'd suggest using an existing motorcycle rolling chasis. Try to find one that you can just modify the motor of, using as many OEM parts as possible. If you find a golden goose willing to shell out lots of cash to start it up, post as such, and I'd fill you in on my credentials. Good luck to ya! Wishing you much success.

Hiya Wizzzz...Energy that is, I would hire you just from the energy I got off of the screen when I opened your post...You seem very sure of yourself and seeing as how that is one of my talents, (the abiblity to read people by vibration..lol) Anyway, I was just kiddin 'bout that but I am a saleman and fairly good at understanding the psyche...You do have a good grasp of the complications usually in play between engineers and capitalists or businessman. It's a diferent atmosphere at the business end of a corp. so attitudes and personalities are diferent. But I've learned to live in both worlds very easily and comfortably so I am quite the negociator if need be.
Anyway, I would like to keep in touch with you so I can take advantage of your expertise, that I am willing to pay for of course. I am the kind of man who actually feels guilty if he has too much money, therefore I am the most unselfish person you will ever meet. So I really do just want to give the world something usefull and while I'm at it start a bit of a legacy fo myself...ok?
The main thing I noticed about your post was in the comment you made of your past "developing various technologies". Like I said, sure of yourself, now I'm sure of you too. So, yes I would like to view your "credentials" allthough I'm not sure I really need to. I listen to my instincts and they tell me at this time that I can trust you. Don't get me wrong, I am well "protected" and have quite an acumen in business myself, so no need to fret.
All I have right now is an idea and a well tried avenue of gaining capitol and the other infrastucture we'll need to succeed. And yes there are plenty of empty manufactories in the Portland area and it is an excellant area to live in. Why else would Nike, Intel, Adidas, Boeing, Techtronics, Microsoft, and many more of the largest manufacturers of country. But I'm certain you probably know this anyway...I was just baraggin a bit....lol.
I do understand the way corporations lease their factories and such too, and so I'll be able to add that talent to my resume'...'eh? Another poster had replied to my post and did nothing but scold me about my idea and my venture into the arena. Don't know why, I guess some psople feel the need to lecture and edify the world of their knowledge....Oh Well..Talk to you soon Wiz

Hello again Mr. Uncommon,

quote from your post: Another poster had replied to my post and did nothing but scold me about my idea and my venture into the arena. Don't know why, I guess some psople feel the need to lecture and edify the world of their knowledge....

I've seen several displays of that type of that attitude on internet sites like this one, and its unlikely I'd try to make you correct your spelling on anything less than a legally binding contract.

I worked in the technical services division of one of the branches of a very large international corporation for several years. I did a lot of the long term testing of their various products, I developed many of the test procedures for said products. I designed and built several test panels. I designed their "burst booth", for high pressure testing at ambient and elevated temperatures. Proved to them that one of their claims reguarding limited oxygen permeation of one of their products was not accurate, and showed them how to fix it. Instead, they chose to hide and/or ignore my lab work. Made a few of their proprietary tools work a lot smoother. Invented a new product for them, designed the primary components of the machine that produced it, designed a fairly simple program to run the machine, worked the bugs out of it and got it on line. They made several milllion dollars, I got a new job title. Seeing a definite pattern in how things worked with them, I suggested futher improvements to the manufacturing process of the product I invented, but didn't fill them in on enough of the details to actually build one. They quickly shoved several unrelated projects off on me, and gave my project to an uneducated blacksmith and a moderately talented blacksmith. In my last year there I laughed a lot as they waisted several hundred thousand dollars and a fair amount of stainless steel building a machine that would be a dandy boat anchor. Are you familiar with the cartoon called "Dilbert"? Catbert and Dogbert don't exist, but the rest of it is surprizingly accurate.

I've been working on my own projects since then, mine like yours, have applications in transportation. Said projects are attempts at improvements in energy efficiency through mechanical engineering, while keeping an eye on some of the basic principles of physics, work in - work out, friction and drag - bad. I can stumble my way through a machine shop without hurting myself. Milling machines, basic metal lathe work and ran a CNC unit, some welding experience (mostly TIG), etc. Almost twenty years ago, I put a Nissan 4 cylinder and 5 speed transmission in a 1970 Opel GT, so small and light it got close to 50 mpg on the highway. Huge fun.

A feller can never have too many worthwhile projects, as long as he manages to finish at least some of them, for the greater good of all. Can you give me a better idea of what you have in mind and where it goes from here?

A lot of times Inventor Associations or clubs can be real helpfull.

Thanks for those links farmerTom.

You never know when something on one of the sites like that might really help a person out.
