Full Version: Forum function question... Is there a way to

It would be a neat feature if we could "subscribe" to a thread on the forum. I've seen that feature on other forums and wondered if there is a way to do that.

This would keep some topics alive for continued discussion instead of having them fall off the first few pages when they get buried by a flurry of newer posts.

Some bb/blog systems also allow email alerts for new posts to threads so that you can automatically be emailed when a new post to the thread is made.

Just wondering... just a thought.

I like this idea

(although I bet that some of the mods would say if it was posted in the proper place it would last much longer)

but on the other hand I like this idea, because the most popular posts are indeed in the cafe

Yeah, subscribe or "watch" topics would be useful. So would "ignore" an entire thread.

While we are waiting for that to be activated, I'll reveal my "trick". I just happen to right click in the thread that I am on and interested in and where it says "Create Shortcut" I click on that, am asked if I want to save it to my deskstop, I click "Yes", and then it appears there. That is also my shortcut to get on to the site. I click one of these, click "View new posts" and am back at the beginning. But it does keep me up to date on the post I am interested in so I don't have to hunt for it.

The other way is to click into your own profile and find your recent posts and locate the thread that way.

Of course I am once again revealing that I never sign out, but at least it might help someone find a shortcut to keeping up with threads they are interested in. innocent.gif

Looks like my "system" is not foolproof. The one I was checking at the time had updated itself, but in looking at an old one from the desktop it was not up to date. I had to go to my profile and check my posts with the last date on the thread I had kept to find it, and then could see the most recent posts. I'm sorry to have given anyone false hope/information. embarrased.gif
