Hey Winston, this might be a worthy forum but from what I can tell it goes for weeks at a time with only one person posting, some anti-war activist named James Starowicz.

Saw a fellow Marine try to converse with him about some of the stuff he was posting and the reponse was something like how dare you question what I say.

If this is the face of the antiwar movement you guys have lost.

Didn't say it was good or bad, I just put it here for people to consider. You don't consider it...

The anti-war movement is doing just fine thank you: 60% and counting.

60% of what?

One of the questions I saw on that web site concerned photos posted about an anti-war protest recently at Fort Bragg. According to the photos they said there appeared to be only about 20 people present. According to Jimmy Starowicz there was 1,500 there.

I guess they all ran off and hid in the bushes everytime somebody got a camera out, eh?

You know Winston, last year that same outfit had there National Convention in Irving Texas. I went up there just to see what was going on. About 25 people showed up, it was such a bust they all loaded up in a couple of cars and drove to Crawford just to get some attention. Then the numbers they said who showed up at Crawford started getting overstated.

Too top that off, I look at some stuff I googgle on this fellow and I start seeing names which I remember were involved in ripping off the Garcias in the huricane relief

Since I've personally witnessed these folks overstating the calling they get I'm inclined to be skeptical when numbers are thrown out there.

Why do you suspose they feel they have a need to be so overwhelmingly dishonest with the number of supporters they get Winston? This ain't the only anti-war group I've seen do it.

60% of Americans in some interation or another think we should not be in Iraq. idea.gif

As for the site itself, Marine, I posted it because: 1. I thought it was of interest for those who are vets and anti-war; 2. I thought it might get the reaction it got from you... whistling.gif

I have made no judgements about it, period. If you or others are interested, investigate- as you have done. If you don't like it, avoid it. If you think it's not, in your opinion, a good site, tell us- as you have done. If others come to the same conclusion, they can do the same things you have done. innocent.gif

I took an initial look at the posted link and found no one by the name of James Starowicz. Read a number of the features, still did not see what you are referring to Marine. So went a second time, looked at the list of individuals under the "About Us" tab. No James Starowicz that I could spot but there are a number of veterans bio'd there that sound quite legit.

Can't quite figure out how you missed him, he's about the only person posting over there. I suppose since you hit his counter though you will be claimed as a member.

Do yourself a favor, google James Starowicz and see how many names you find which are in common with the people who ripped off Buddy and Annie Spell.

Marine:
Even though I didn't mention it I did google Starowicz, and he had posted 142 times on the site at the time I looked,, out of many thousands of posts, you can look it up if you want the actual figures.

It also appears that the individual is more closely associated with another Veterans group, Veterans for Peace.

Therefore it does not seem that the group under discussion is dominated by this individual anymore than you or I are dominating this website.

Did you also note no one else but jstaro posts at the site currently? Aside from one lone person who venture 3 post almost a week ago, jstaro is the only person who is active on the board.

Click the recent post function button on their web site, it will display approximately the last 60 days of activity on their board. Jstaro will account for 75% of the activity with the rest spread amongst five other users, where the last other user posting was almost a week ago.

Now lets deal with the number of posts. John Seebeth, 518 posts, but it seems John quit posting on October 22, 2005. Anonymous, 453 post, last post 31 July, 2005(it appears they quit allowing people to post as anonymous then). Ted, 208 posts, quit posting 31 January 2005(it appears they banned Ted). MUDD, 143 posts, last post 17 March, 2005(it appears poor MUDD was also banned). And finally, Jstaro, 132 post, last post yesterday. This goes on and on, nobody is currently posting on that forum, EXCEPT JSTARO.

Private forum?

Come on Lenal, get real.

I was hoping this thread was going to be about Veterans of different views talking about Iraq.

Any chance we could see some of that here?

Methinks we tried doin' that in the Afghanistan & Iraq subforum, where 'tis actually more on topic. Similar discussions here methinks would only be repetitive and redundant.

Doubtful. Methinks most of us vets prefer talkin' 'bout this subject in the subforum it really belongs in and where it should get more of a focused dialogue goin' on, eh?

Yeah, and methinks it usually gets disjointed and sidetracked. Just the same I took the liberty of startin' this thread in the Afghanistan & Iraq subforum just so y'all get your wish, eh?

This topic's threads make me wonder about the attrition here on this forum.

Do some wish to be the last man/woman standing? Not I.
