Full Version: Louisiana's Governor election

Hello, Everyone! My name is Anthony "Tony G" Gentile. This next Governor's election could be the turning point for Louisiana. The way I see it it's a make or break issue. The politics of the past and it continues today has left us with a very poor impression on the rest of the country. At first we were considered a joke, good ole Louisiana politics! Now after two major disasters our creditability has sunk even lower. Politicians fighting amongst themselves, finger pointing, misappropriation of funds, the blue roof rip off, and lets not forget the "Chocolate City" comment. The sins of the past have caught up to us and the burden is heavy. It's time for a change. Please check out my website, www.tonygforgov.com . I realize I'm a political unknown. It's time for a change, it's time for a non politician to take the reigns and guide this state out of the pit of dispair we have fallen into. Please feel free to give me your comments or ideas. The key is government working for the people not special interest groups. The Democrats and Republicans don't spend millions of dollars to get their candidates elected because they like them! They want a return on their investment. I look at your vote as an investment. Your trust in me to help guide the state towards a better day for you and your family, not just an obscure few. If you like what we have vote for the status quo. If you want a change, a change in the positive direction give me an opportunity. Thank you

From his website:

I'm just an everyday person like you! I have no special interests, or strong ties to any political party. I am a registered Republican, however I will not run under any party affliation. Each party has an agenda. My only agenda will be the advancement of the citizens in the state of Louisiana.

II believe that I have a platform that will help the citizens of this state as well as the economy. It's time we make laws to help ALL the people of this state, not just an obscure few

I was hoping that some of the LA member of this forum would have some questions for you... I am a bit surprised that "I" will be asking the first questions:

Why are you running against Gov. Blanco?
What has she done that motivates you to run for Gov of LA against her?
What do you propose to do as Gov that she has failed or neglected to do?

I know these are very general questions and expect general answers... but if you have a specific issue that has driven you to be gov. of LA, I would be interested in those motives as well. I'm for CA and we have a Repub Gov right now... but not for long.

Hey wundermaus,

Pretty much everything is on my web page. But I tell you that it's not so much Blanco that I chose to run. She just pushed me over the edge! It's the position Louisiana is in. Politically, educationaly, financially, and our overall position in every ranking that comes out.
After the storm, when I could get back to work, which was about two weeks. I watched my friends walking around work looking like a boxer that had just gotten tagged by a straight right. They were there physically but mentally they were hurting. Imagine everything you worked for in your life gone. And the bottom line is because somebody wasn't doing their job. There's enough blame to go around so I wont bother trying to pile it up on any individaul. These people paid their taxes in good faith that homes were protected a by levee system. I realized that these people were let down. It's one thing to be let down whereas someone forgets to give you a ride, a friend caves into peer pressure and doesn't stand by your side, but to lose everything, every posession you have except the clothes on your back.
The Governor's failure understand the use the Stafford Act. She was quick to point out others shortcomings but not hers. And honestly most if not all politicians can't and wont make a snap decision. They done everything by committee or with aid of a staff. I say make sound high impact decisions and we'll talk about it later!

That's it a nutshell, I could go on I think you get my jest! I appreciate the the opportunity to answer your questions.

Thanks,

Tony G
