Full Version: Weird thing with MS Word

If I copy a post then try to paste it in MS Word, nothing is pasted.

But I can paste it into Notepad, then from Notepad I can paste it into Word.

Weird. And it does this on THREE computers I have access to -- one using Windows 2000 and Word 2000, and the other two using Windows XP and Word 2003.

I'm trying to collect up all the important posts. This double copy/paste operation is a pain.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. If i click repy, though, and then cut and paste, it will paste into word without a problem.

Pretty strange I noticed the same thing....Just save something to a folder, off the net, archive for instant access.

Actually, I've had this problem... even on the old site.

Try... hitting return or the space bar, after you have pasted into the "post" screen.

Sometimes the copy and paste function registers, but is invisible. Just hit return... and I think, the text should magically appear.

Ahhhhhhhh..... Thanks!

I noticed this happen too. For me to get it to work consistently, I had to have word up and running before I copied from the other program. Then I could always paste what I copied into the clipboard into word.

Give that a try and let me know if that solved the problem for you.

Ya. That does essentially the same thing as pasting into Notepad first, then copying and pasting into Word because it just pastes in plain text.

If you just try to paste, Word actually tries to connect to the Internet and download the info, formatting and all. One problem would be, if you had any firewall software, like ZoneAlarm, or the built-in firewall in XP SP2, and allowed your web browser to connect to the Internet, but were not allowing Word to connect. Then nothing would happen.

On edit: I am a big keyboard shortcut user, so I hit Ctrl+V to paste. But, I actually was using the Paste Special feature a lot, so I created a Ctrl+Shift+V macro to do an unformatted text paste.
