Highlights of Funding Bill for Iraq War

A $106.5 billion Senate spending bill for the Iraq war and hurricane relief along the Gulf Coast includes:


_$67.6 billion for Pentagon war operations, including $39.2 billion for operations and maintenance, $10.2 billion in personnel and $15.5 billion for procurement.


_$27.1 billion for hurricane relief, including $5.2 billion in grants to states to build and repair housing, $10.6 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $2.1 billion for levees and flood control projects.


_$4 billion for farmers hit by drought, floods and high energy costs.


_$2.3 billion to combat the avian flu.


_$1.1 billion in aid for Gulf Coast fisheries.


_$648 million for port security projects.


_$700 million to purchase a Mississippi rail line and give it to the state for a new coastal highway.


_$594 million to repair highways damaged prior to Hurricane Katrina.
