Group Cites Electronic Voting Problems
AP - 45 minutes ago
The record use of electronic voting machines on Nov. 2 led to hundreds of voting irregularities and shows the need for higher standards, a voting rights group said Thursday.

The companies that make the electronic machines said their equipment was reliable and had relatively few problems considering the millions who cast their ballots.

The Election Verification Project reviewed nearly 900 reports of electronic voting problems on Election Day, ranging from lost votes in North Carolina to miscounted votes in Ohio and breakdowns in New Orleans that caused long lines and shut down polling places.

"The documented problems with touch screen machines, vote-counting irregularities and the fact that votes cannot be verified or recounted show us how vulnerable our democracy will be in the future when there are disputed or unclear results," said Kim Alexander, a project member and president of the California Voter Foundation.

I still hold to my opinion that we have not yet found evidence of voter fraud, and we might never find it. But, the one thing that is fact is that some of the machines produce NO paper-trail. THAT is a very big problem!

When we do find the fraud, bross--will your very soul simply explode?

Curious. I mean, you have waged QUITE the battle!

Now, now... He's getting better. He can't deny the diebold system is bunk any longer, stopped trying to call Bev a wacko...

A couple of more days and we may make a liberal out of him tongue.gif

But do you understand that it is a battle for the truth?

All I am looking for is that actual hard evidence of fraud. So if it is found, like I have said before: I will lead the lynch mob personally!

But what if it isn't found? Do we keep looking ad infinitum? At what point do we turn our attention to the future and use what we now know to try and fix the problem?

Hey! I wouldn't go THAT far! But, honestly, I am liberal on several social issues. smile.gif

As for Bev, no she is not a wacko. She and I completely disagree on whether electronic voting could ever be successfully implemented, but that is about the extent of my personal opinion about her. Honestly, I wish I were more in her type of position where I could act more publicly, but I cannot. I have dozens of families that I am responsible for each and every day. If I put my company at risk, I may be putting people out of work.

What is the difference between idealistic and realistic?

Can one pursue both simultaneously? Absolutely.

Is that anything like technological progress with environmental responsibility? 'cause I have *preached* that that is possible for quite some time now. smile.gif

Actually I meant that we can attack the election process both backwardly (idealistically) and forwardly (realistically) at the same time, because both ways are important to us.

No, I meant sort of the same *in spirit*. smile.gif
