I really don't think holding elections in January will change anything. Invading Iraq was a HUGE mistake. Can you believe that the same Chickenhawks are now talking about Iran? Haven't these people learned anything?

As progressive as the Mullahs are in Iran, I can understand your concern.

That is part of it, but Saddam also switched his currency over to the Euro for the purchase of the oil. If he succeeded in getting others to switch to the Euro as well, it would have bankrupted the U.S. almost immediately. It is also a good place to be if one wants to launch later attacks on Russia, or China, which is the Neocon ultimate goal.

Horrible stuff- I guess by your post you want to invade Iran based on this info. Fine, first levy a "war tax" because we are deep enough in debt.

This stuff is not right, but neither is the U.S. policy of torturing prisoners. Furthermore, it is up to the Iranian people to stop that, not the U.S. As Bush said when he was Governor of Texas, it is not our job to police the world, what a change of policy.

Flogging a 14 year old boy to death for unauthorized eating, sentencing young (15 & 16 y/o) teenage boys to death but making them wait until they're 18 to kill them, sentencing teenage girls to death by stoning but not making them wait. Sounds like another glorious and happy paradise by Michael Moore standards, eh?

As someone stated earlier "we cannot police the world." So what's the goal, fight them until they get tired of fighting?

I find it incredible that it is OK for the U.S. Government to aid and abet some of the worst dictators on the planet, as Saddam was, and Iran used to be when the Shah was in power, and many others, as long as they are friendy dictators. But as soon as these dictators decide to find their own course, they need to be overthrown. What hypocrites they are, and anyone who thinks the same way they do!!
