It would appear that a 'blind eye has been turned' by President Bush on the opium trade in Afghanistan as he is so hell bent on persuading voters that Afghanistan is free and wonderful - liberated by him. Praise the Lord etc.

Afghanistan: a nation abandoned to drugs

Country produces 87% of global opium. One in ten Afghans works in opium trade. UN: state is world's second worst to live in

Three years after the fall of the Taliban, the United Nations issued a dramatic plea for help yesterday, saying that Afghanistan's opium crop is flourishing as never before and the country is well on the way to becoming a corrupt narco-state.

The UN's annual opium survey reveals that poppy cultivation increased by two-thirds this year, a finding that will come as a deep embarrassment to Tony Blair, who pledged in 2001 to eradicate the scourge of opium along with the Taliban.

The U.S. needs drugs to prop up the economy, to the tune of about 600 billion dollars a year, and perhaps more. Without that drug money flowing through U.S. banks, the economy would collapse. Get the book Dope Inc. Read here a free book.

OK, so the churches of the red states support opium flowing in to prop up the US economy? I don't remember Jesus ever approving of that? Hmmmm

The U.S. banks support it, and the Government, but I don't know about the churches, but if they do support it, Jesus would not approve of that. smile.gif

have we observed headlines in the US newspapers on Opium. Why does it take another country's newspaper to spill the beans?
