Okay, Skillet- checking in for you. Here's my vent for the day.
I am a person. I should have rights within my family unit, right ?
So, why, why, why, am I sitting at the desk I got when I was 13 years old,
with a darn old keyboard (on which the letters
are worn off: warning my typing will be worse
than ever !)hooked up to Son's hand-me-down laptop,
without a mouse, with the keyboard on top of the front desk drawer because the desk is too high for a computer- computers were not around
when this desk was made... the issue is really having my own space,
as I am sure you have figured out. I think I might just throw a little hissy fit
around here, as even the dog has his own spaces.
pinch.gif Pretty weak gripe, huh ? Yeah, thought so.

On the positive side, it is so nice ot be home. To walk on a solid floor that does not
shake, rattle & roll when Trailerman or I move... to not have to use public bathrooms
all the day long... to have a good hot, hard shower available to use... to look
outside and see familiar things... and all that. smile.gif

So, I am going to make my space here in my own home before chat tomorrow night.
tongue.gif With the current set-up, no one would be able to read I word I typed- even as good as
the chat members have become at translating. teehee.gif

mtnmagic
OK - we have Joe, Marine, Tom, Tom..Pegatha with mold and a cockroach or two, and Pie...leaves many more. It is official roll call, check off time! Gather yourself here and be counted! Oh..all right, Pretty Please! tongue.gif

Thank you, -P. happy.gif
Never underestimate the power of a woman throwing a sudden fit.
Son came running, Trailerman grumbled but said a computer desk was
in order (eventually)... and whallah ! New temporary digs on a card table (much more
appropriate height). A swivel desk chair and a wireless mouse were
miraculously discovered by AppleSon, and I have light and a ceiling
fan overhead, no less ! clap.gif The fact that this new set up is over the top
of part of Trailerman's train set gives me perverse joy. dancing.gif

Betty - Where are you? Certainly you were not serious when you said you were laying low? baseball_bat.gif

As for the rest of you....

Heart - you are wandering these threads. Time to check in.

vet- I know you have been around. Sorry, front and center, be accounted for!

DESRON - Need to celebrate an extremely happy time. Come on back and tell us more.

ws - Know you are here in spirit. Yep, can't make my statements without the spelling guru breathing over me.

Brookie - BADDABING! How dare you let Joe and I take all the flack for the trio's misbehavior!

Eugeenie - Love the idea of your HUGE garden growing. flowersun.gif kaogardener.gif

We need to see you on a more regular basis. A post (unless you are Pie, RedBird or Amy) takes moments....

Doc - Told you my misunderstanding. So, how is fishing? Fluke means flounder, right? doh.gif

Frenchy - Look here! We miss you so much. Yep, me and all the rest. Shall I find song lyrics to explain? Peg is trying to bring out the writer in me.

Redbird - Yes, I know you are overwhelmed. So say "Hi" and be gone, ok? Ya know, you have to check in. Anything else is not required.

Anybody that has graced this thread. Please drop a note. Will not go into a long explanation. This is about getting along no matter what one thinks. Stay awhile and learn.

Overwhelmed? Me?
No, just busy and busy brings me joy or is it hapiness? or maybe contentment ala -P. I would have responded but there is no such thing as a simple question to me. Everything requires pondering. Maybe next week I'll have an answer.

laugh.gif 'Ya mean this ?!

This would be "Bessie" and I would never, ever be ashamed of her. tongue.gif
Bessie is so old that I could not find an accurate picture... she is deep
blue-gray with the woody sides and even has wire wheels ! And she is
in such good shape that MrPie even paid to have her windows
re-tinted several months ago. smile.gif

I am very loyal to Bessie. I brought SonPie home from the hospital after
he was born in Bessie. And Bessie is Buddy's favorite car ever- the front
passenger seat fits him perfectly ! (he never sits in back, as he can see so well
with his one eye from the front seat)
Greatest advantage to owning dear old Bessie: everyone I have known for the
last 20+ years recognizes me when I lumber on by ! teehee.gif

Now, the one problem with Bessie is that she has had a little leak above the
windshield since she was new. Took her in twice and had then re-set the window,
to no avail. So, when a storm comes through, I insist that Bessie (who has no
book value whatsoever) be parked in the garage, as usual. This invariably
causes the guys to moan and groan and roll their eyes in disgust. rolleyes.gif

Hello to all.

Betty, you are not posting too much. I enjoy your posts and you were holding down the fort.

Fly: I never will understand fishing

Marine: I don't understand why anyone likes to farm either, but I'm glad you like to do it. I really wish I could buy some of your produce too.

Frenchy: Did we tick you off or something?

Marie: I'm doing fine...better every day. Sorry I didn't get here in time for your mutterings biggrin.gif , but I'm more of a night person than you are out there in the PTS.

Pegatha: If I were to ever take him back you can be assured he would have to go through a lot of serious THERAPY including an MMPI. Please understand that I do feel divorce should only be undertaken as a very last resort and I miss the kids. I hope I get a good job to be able to support them. I'm still working on that. I am a pretty steady and rationale thinker most of the time, and BTW: My therapist thinks I have developed criteria for any eventuallity that shows practicallity, distance from the raw emotions, and well thought out. She is changing my opinion of "therapy" because she actually advises and interacts. I still have my moments, but it's getting to be okay. What can I say peg...I'm just a happy person by nature.

Bosun: You will probably outlive all of us because of your gifts of humor that you share with us. I always imagine that you are searching around and only show us the best, so you laugh much more than we do, and that will make you healthy, happy and wise for a long time. Oh, and I wanna rent a little dog like the one in the picture you posted...but already potty trained and one I can give back in a month or so. I want a pug or something, but then I don't want the responsibility. A cat....they are wonderful, but again, I can't travel much and I don't feel like being rejected by a feline at night because "he's not in the mood to crawl up in the bed!"

Tom: I had fun last night, hope you did too notworthy.gif

Pie....I am SO GLAD to hear you finally threw a fit and get your own space and better tools. It seemed to me the pie family were not being fair to you.

Winston: Enjoy! Also, enjoy that wonderful patio, and great SD weather.

Snuff: BERMUDA!!! What a great vacation spot...in fact, great place to live too.

Brookie: What have you been doing lately....spring stuff?

Desron: Can you two have a second wedding at chat? dancing.gif That would be a lot of fun. Please do tell us the name of the test and what questions they asked?

Redbird: Taking in wayward teens....braver than I am that's for sure. I could barely handle my own two, but now I miss them (not together though, just separtely, because no one would ever want to be around them arguing over everything all the time).

BT: Why did they ever let you near the spray coming out of that truck? No one who has smelled it could possibly think it's good for you. Well, maybe we were better off when we didn't know that everything is carcinegenic (Or else EVERYTHING gives lab mice cancer).

I'm learning henna, job hunting a bit, sleeping a lot still, I'M BORED AND LONELY! YUK. Have a full plate of chores for tomorrow. I'm also redecorating my bedroom come hell or high water! I decided on dark purple satin and gold with a bit of a morrocan flavor. It will have a canopy and I am going to need some technical help to make the curtains open with a remote and getting the speakers and cd player turn on when I turn on the light switch.

I know I must have left something out????? But my brain is tired thinking of all of this Happiness stuff....I still prefer "42". BTW: Eugeenie, let me know when you want to develop a franchise? I'de love to help! And please check in now then, just to let us know you're okay dancing.gif

It's a small world
It's a small world
It's a small world

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
Everybody now

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
Everybody now
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small, small, small world

There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to every one
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
Come on, come on, everybody now

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
Everybody now
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

It's a small world after all
No matter if you're big or small
Come on, everybody let's funk with it
Expect to love with a little twist

Helping Your Fish to Have a Nice Day...

Stress gives us headaches, makes us feel lousy, tears down our systems and causes heart attacks that can lead to death. We get our stress from missed deadlines, traffic, arguments, tragic events — you name it! We often ignore the warning signals and will live many years under stress.

The affects of stress is even more apparent in fish than in humans. Netting the fish, transporting the fish, feeding the fish, handling the fish — this all causes stress. It’s stressful for them to eat and to spawn. If the pH is off, if ammonia, nitrites or high concentrations of nitrates are present in their water the fish will stress. We’ve even seen a case where chasing a very excitable fish with the net caused him to die - we think from a heart attack!

Stress leads to all the other afflictions that can occur. It’s like there is a big sign on the side of the fish that says “I’m stressed and ripe for the picking”. Parasites and Aeromonas must know how to read because it is when the fish is at its most vulnerable condition that these bad elements tend to attack. Parasites and bad bacterias are present in ponds. The trick is to offer the most stress-free environment for your fish so that they can live healthfully. Here’s a few tips on how you can help your fish have a nice, stress-free day:

Maintain Excellent Water Quality — Your fish suffer when the water parameters are not stable. Any reading of Ammonia or Nitrites, even mild readings, and swings in the pH will cause stress.

Net Your Fish Only When Necessary

Make Sure the Pond Water is Aerated Properly — Don’t turn off the pump at night or during the hottest part of the day.

Don’t Over-Treat Your Pond — Sometimes it’s better to leave well enough alone.

Use Care When Handling the Fish — Transporting fish is one of the most stressful things you can do. Rough or prolonged handling just adds to the event.

Don’t Allow Children to Terrorize the Fish — Stones should never be thrown into the water and hands should be put in the water only when hand-feeding the fish.

Don’t Overcrowd the Pond — Overcrowding is a major contributor to stress.

Had to come in for the Military retirees in the house. Just got this TRICARE update:

Where Are We on TRICARE Fee Hikes?
Thanks in part to quick action by 12,000 members who sent e-mails to their senators within 24 hours of MOAA's e-mail alert, the full Senate approved Sen. Frank Lautenberg's (D-NJ) TRICARE pharmacy amendment on Wednesday.

The Lautenberg amendment would bar the Defense Department from increasing retail pharmacy copays in fiscal year 2007.

With all the various proposals in the House or Senate versions of the defense bill and this new amendment, it's worth taking a step back to assess where we now stand on the various Pentagon-proposed TRICARE fee increases for the coming year.

Based on legislation approved so far by the House and Senate, it should be safe to say that:

A. There won't be any increases in TRICARE Prime enrollment fees or the TRICARE Standard deductible for FY07, since both the House and Senate bills prohibit that.

B. TRICARE mail-order pharmacy copays should be reduced to zero for most formulary drugs, since that's called for in both the House and Senate bills.

Other increases may still be in play because of differences in provisions in the House vs. the Senate defense bill including:

*Possible increase in retail drug copays: Senate would freeze at $3/$9; House would raise to $6/$16;

*Possible increase in TRICARE Reserve Select premiums for drilling Guard/Reserve members and families: Senate would raise the premium 2.2% next year; House would bar any 2007 increase;

*TRICARE Standard enrollment fee: Senate would require a $25 ($40 family) enrollment fee; House would leave the current law in place, which doesn't allow any enrollment fee for Standard.

MOAA and The Military Coalition will be addressing all of these issues with the House and Senate conferees who will be working to resolve the differences in the final defense bill.

Have him decide whether he wants padding in the shoe, inserts or socks with thick soles & heel. Make sure he tries them on according to his option so they'll fit that way. A lot of it is constant pressure on certain areas, this is the easiest wy around it (most expensive way also wouldn't match style requirements, specialty shoes for people with foot problems formed to the foot).

Sorry Vet is having connection or computer problems.  Marine, too.  sad.gif  Most irritating, isn't it ?

And I forgot what else I missed.  Took Son shoe shopping today again.  stars smiliey.gif
Seems 9 hour shifts on his feet require good shoes.  (I've been warning him about wearing those
darn flip-flops at school for years !)  Two malls so far;  no shoes found that meet the
requirements of good support and 'looking cool' yet.  thud.gif  In teen vernacular:  I am like sooooo glad I do not have a girl.    rolleyes.gif

It's Friday !  Chat night !

News Flash:  I am gonna turn my 'puter off for a while.  Reason is 'cause I feel that it'd be better to give the 8-hours that I spend (per day) on line to my family.  Gotta do this for myself too.

Good choice, Joe, although I sure will miss you! Glad you'll still be around from time to time.

Methinks you'd best not be holdin' your breath lookin' for good shoes anymore. Seems the cheap Asian imports've completely taken over the market. IMHO, from my own experience, get the best made shoes you can find, but a half size too big, then use them new Dr Scholl's gel foam form fittin' inserts, eh?

BTW, I see you weren't shy 'bout nailin' the milestone, eh? Congratulations! (Methinks was nice of you to remove the temptation for Betty)

Hope the Bosun enjoys more time with his family!
