SOMALIA, AGAIN: IT'S NOW PAINFULLY CLEAR WHY THE UNITED STATES WAS WRONG TO ABANDON NATION-BUILDING EDITORIAL (WASHINGTON POST, JUNE 8): Rather than try to build up a Somali government, the Bush administration backed Mogadishu's warlords. Such cut-rate tactics sooner or later lead to a more troubling and dangerous situation.

Again methinks someone smarter'n me will have to explain just why this thread is here. Havin' read it a couple time 'twould seem 'tis an editorial comment on the failure of foreign policy, but for the life of me I see nothin' 'tall havin' to do with "U.S. Military Issues" in it, eh? Last I checked foreign policy was under the purview of the State Department and methinks only until they've completely botched it would it possibly become a military issue.
