Powell was originally apointed by Bush due to his popularity (the prospective appointment was made public before Bush was elected) .
Seeing as George has been reelected for the last time, he has no more use for Powell. Colin has done his bit and can go.
If GW had been actually interested in keeping Colin he would have reached agreement on various issues.
It does rather irritate me that people think that most issues are somehow connected to Israel. Seems rather naive actually.
