When I was a kid we left them in a room with the whole floor covered with papers, I slept outside the door on the floor waiting for the crying to stop then I'd hug and hold them. That's the only way I know to papertrain and break from crying.

I finally got a story worth RA, IMHO:

The guy in our office that chases down bad checks was talking to
a businessman who went through a break-up with his mistress.

He asked for the jewelry, the car and some cash back that he had given her
since she made the decision. Well, she refused. He took her to court.

She testified that the payments were for "services rendered" and the
judge threw his case out of court. But, it doesn't end there...
like I said - they guy was a businessman.

He told our check chaser he felt alright about the situation because...
he was going to file a Form 1099 (showing the gifts as her income)
with the IRS, since he had paid for "services rendered". thud.gif

One other litte saga from today. I had his food and water dish in the laundry room which is off the family room. He decided to take the water dish in his mouth and empty it all over the floor. I needed a roll of paper towel to wipe it up and the pack of paper towels was in the crawl space where I store cleaning supplies etc.
( our house is a back split.)

To make a long story short, I didn't turn on the light before going in and pulled the door almost closed so Tuffy wouldn't follow me. Somehow the door closed completely and there was no handle on the inside to open it. Picture it .. I'm in there and can't stand fully erect. Its pitch black and I can't find a thing to pry the door open and Tuffy is on the other side of the door doing God knows what. Les is still asleep upstairs and can't hear me. It took me twenty minutes rummaging in total darkness until I finally found something I could use.

I opened the door and there was Tuffy sitting, head cocked, soaking wet, looking at me as if saying where were you ? He had spread the water from wall to wall.

What did I do ? I sat on the wet floor and laughed like an idiot.

P. S. Tuffy now drinks out of a heavy lead crystal dish which he definitely cannot move or lift.

Good Morning from the zoo.

We've had our morning greeting which was effusive and very good for the ego. I've never ever had anyone so happy to see me as Tuffy was this morning when I arrived to open his cage ! He saw me at the top of the stairs and went into a jumping up and down routine which would rival circus tumblers.

He wants to play and see if I can run as fast as he does. If I could do that I'd be 6 years old again ! He wasn't the least bit interested in using his paper pad and in fact decided to eat it.

He then walked into the family room and relieved himself . This ain't gonna be easy !

I am beginning to think I better opt for outside training but not until he has had the rest of his shots. I am taking him to the vet today to be thoroughly checked and he is due for the second series of shots so after that I guess its going outside for me before I even have coffee. Considering the fact I'm in a semi coma until I have my caffeine that's gonna be a bit of a task. Aw, what the heck ! fresh air never hurt anyone ! I am going to buy a collar and leash today and then I can secure him in one spot until I get my coffee and take it out as we play outdoors at 6.30 in the morning. Oh joy ! I can't wait !

None of this is in any way his fault of course. This wee guy is affectionate and loving and hasn't a clue he's doing anything the least bit out of the ordinary. "Patience and love". Its my new mantra.

It's so much easier with my birds. When they have fly time I follow behind with paper towel and its simple to clean up after them with no hassle or damage incurred. That ain't gonna work with a puppy ! So I have to get him trained. I'm much too much of a clean freak to do otherwise.

And Fly ... This is what Tuffy looks like !! Or at least this is a very close facsimile except that he has dark hair around his eyes and his ears. Not that long haired freak !

Cowboy's Ten Commandments posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas.

(1) Just one God.
(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.
(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.
(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.
(5) Put nothin' before God.

(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff

Use tough love for the training.

Put his nose in the business, slap his nose, say NO in a firm tone and set him where he supposed to do the deed.

Make sure that everyone in the home uses the same approach.

If this doesn't do the trick add additional punishment of time in an area that he does not like (Basement, Garage, outside) away from the family. -- not the cage

One other thing--- if you want him to go outside in the future then that's how you should train him now.

It's always worked for me through the many dogs I've had.. The only accidents I can attribute were to the need of attention on my part, sickness or old age.

Good Luck!

Almost forgot you should reward him from doing the business right.

I stayed in that hotel that's over water in Galveston when I was all of 18 (and there were boys!). Have a pic of the young man I fancied, who was freshly back from Vietnam and a risk-taking fool, holding me over the water off our deck, about 80 feet up. Glad my mother never saw it! She'd have died! But I sure look happy in that picture...

Have also been to Caddo Lake, just a few months ago. It was beautiful and swampy - spanish moss and cypress knees all over.

Who knows? If Kinky wins, I just may move!

Works on people too (sometimes).

We put our last pup in a baby crib in the living room and stuck a strip of vinyl flooring in it so he could practice getting it right. Just happened to have this crib and it also doubled as a holding area without the dog feeling that he was being cooped up. Sounds pretty off-the-wall but it was actually a great conversation starter and still is today.

Glad you found your way over here.

Ok Heart ... most of this is for you ...

Busy day and some progress. Tuffy actually used the puppy pad several times and each time received effusive praise from me. Of course I cheated. I have created a pathway of puppy pads making it virtually impossible for him to not hit them now and again. When he missed he got a harsh scolding .. its a start. As he uses them more often I will eliminate until I'm down to one and that one near the back door. Next step outside. But first he has to have the rest of his shots. He got a clean bill of health from the Vet today and his booster shot. He gets his rabies shot next month and after that I'll concentrate on outdoors. We have too many wild critters around here to take chances before that.

now the part for Heart ...

Mid afternoon we were sitting on the deck and had Tuffy out there with us. He can't jump off it yet with those short little legs. We had a surprise visit from Les' daughter and granddaughter and they had Tuffy's sister with them. I had told them that she was with Tuffy and that we had picked him. They loved him so much that they went today and bought her.

The instant they spotted one another they both went berserk ! Kisses and jumping up and down etc... it was adorable to watch. And then our little guy showed his stuff. He mounted her grabbed her shoulders with his front paws, pulled her toward him and humped his little heart out ! Nothing we said would stop him. He would just return and do it all over again and again. He's a sex fiend !! And he looks so innocent and sweet !! Not only is that a fallacy ( he's a true male) he would cheerfully engage in incest ! When they left and took that little harlot with them we came indoors and Tuffy passed out .. literally. He slept so soundly we had a heck of a time waking him to go to the Vet for our 5.15 appointment!

Oh yeah .. one other thing .. I said the kitchen and Living room were safe from him still.. wrong !! We were having dinner in the kitchen. He was downstairs. Les glanced down and said you have to see this ... there was Tuffy .. he had one front paw over the side of the stair molding and was using it for leverage as he climbed every one of those stairs to the kitchen and then sat there proud as punch.

So one thing I do know .. that expression about sc***ing your brains out definitely doesn't apply to Tuffy. His brains are definitely still intact!
ConcernedObserver
And now the other news of today. Les got his test results today. No bone cancer. That was our fear(the Doctor's and mine) but neither of us had told Les what he was being checked for. And I hadn't even told you people as I didn't want to put it down in readable form.

Now he's sending him to an orthopedic man as he does have two really bad discs in his spine which may be the cause of all the pain radiating into his hip. He says the Ortho may suggest a cortisone shot. That I can deal with. And if it gives some relief to Les from pain that's a gift from the gods after all the months of suffering.

all in all .. not a bad day. flowersun.gif

Well my beagle has developed some rather bad habits in her old age. #1 is she thinks any smooth and clean concrete surface was placed on earth for her to use as a toilet. 145 acres of farm land here and she's got to crap on the bottom step at the back door.

Maybe she does it just to get a chuckle at seeing me step in it on my way out to the barn? Naugh, I learned weeks ago to avoid it.

I pointed out to my wife the pile on the bottom step I've been sweeping off for weeks every morning then the puddle on the side walk. Her suggestion to deal with this problem? If I forget make sure I leave my boots on the stoop before entering the house. iamsmiling.gif

Good morning everyone!
(or what ever 'tis where ever you is, eh?)

After gettin' home from an okay day fishin' (the bay is still all stirred up from the storms we had) found we had modem problems last night cut my online time short after doin' a bit of "Retreatin'", eh? Went out this mornin' and found a new one that's supposed to be compatible with my DSL service, but couldn't get it to connect. Reconnected the old modem, tried gettin' it to work right, was 'bout ready to give up and whacked it with my hand, it worked! Guess violence is called for on occasion, eh?

And Fly ... This is what Tuffy looks like !! Or at least this is a very close facsimile except that he has dark hair around his eyes and his ears. Not that long haired freak !
Long haired freak? Methinks you'd best not say that 'round your little fur ball 'lest he get the idea he's some kinda monster. He is what he is, and your attempts at reprogrammin' ain't gonna change that, eh?

You might be interested in this and others out there like it. Methinks that breed might have a few special requirements.

Who knows?  If Kinky wins, I just may move!
Think he could get rid of the humidity?

Woke up with temporary blindness in my GOOD EYE...
Methinks you really probably just strained it lookin' for pictures of well endowed ladies to post here. Glad it turned out okay, eh?

I am having to get used to someone demanding my attention before I've even had coffee. Its a real test for me so I have to make this quick again and get to playing on the floor.
'Course you realize us cat folks don't have them problems, eh? My evil kitty gets his saucer of coffee and milk when I get my first cup of the mornin', and everything's copastetic for the rest of the day.

Methinks farmin' out the extra livestock was a grand idea. Now all you gotta contend with is jealousy amongst the feathery critters you got left for your new furry bundle.

Now if you can just get Les fixed up methinks the world will be alright again. Hopefully cortisone injections do the trick, eh?

Well, here's hopin' the weather's great where ever y'all are at! Enjoy the day, be safe, stay well and remember to play nice!

Have a nice day!

Added on edit: 'Twould seem #200's not far off!

Y'all don't follow the links on the post Solve et Coagula made in the military forum.

The last one will give your computer more bugs than you can catch in a Tiajuana whorehouse.

We do the best we can about following links etc. but also rely on our members to point out things we may have missed. That doesn't mean we will always agree, but in this case we do. The topic has been removed. smile.gif

Y'all might wanna think 'bout dininfectin' the place too, eh? If you need a pest control guy methinks Tom DeLay's no longer gainfully employed and might just be available.

Trust me, after havin' treated various bugs from TJ over the years methinks you don't wanna even think 'bout it.

Note to Liza Jane: Methinks you'd best be watchin' the post count & not get distracted by other things

Okay, so I'm flattered. When Betty thinks of me she thinks of cute animal stories and sex. So, if there is a cute animal sex story all the better right?????

Excuse me while I go poke my eyes out with a sharp stick! I just googled "cute animal sex" and was really sorry that I did.

However, I will share this:
