71% Say Finding New Energy Sources More Important Than Conservation
Seventy-three percent (73%) of Americans say it is "very important" that the United States become less dependent on oil imports. A mere handful (5%) disagrees.

To accomplish that goal, 71% say developing new energy sources is more important than conserving energy (21%). The preference for new sources of energy comes from 81% of Republicans, 66% of Democrats, and 68% of those not affiliated with either major party.

I'm probably one of the few that would have preferred to see gas stay at higher prices. No, I don't want to see anyone freeze or not be able to drive to work.

Until gas rises and stay at a price higher than we are willing to pay long-term, we will continue to use it like water. There are brilliant advancements being made in alternative forms of energy, and until they have enough incintive to keep moving ahead on these areas .. there is no market.

In the one week of gas dropping to close to $2 and eve down to $1.91 in some states, the SUV sales have taken off again.

The US needs a 12 step program to get off the idea of they must use so much crude/ oil or related products.

No time for a 12 step. How about a 1 step?

The rest of the Western World uses 1/5 of what we use.

Their life-style is as good or better than ours.

We must change.

And fast.
