Wow! Two years I've been hanging out with you guys. What a strange trip it's been. I'm sure glad to have you in my life grphug.gif

I'm going to a tool sale tomorrow...new and used. I think I need a drill, a sander, a recipricating saw (but I don't know why), a soldering kit, a glue gun, a collapsable horse, a miter box, and hopefully a circular saw. Do you all think that is over doing it?

So, happy December!

luv to all,

Good morning everyone!
(or what ever 'tis where ever you is, eh?)

What a way to start the day, eh? Read a story 'bout how Minneapolis-St Paul International (what we called Wold-Chamberlain Field when I lived there) is considerin' installin' a prayer room for folks whose religious practices're upsettin' to others. After thinkin' 'bout it methinks it's a good idea! That way Santaria adherents'll have a nice quiet place to sacrifice chickens before boardin' flights.

Yeah, probably.... we all have it figured out.

Anybody here owned by a dog? Here's what NOT to get your dog for Christmas:

1. A CD of cats meowing popular Christmas songs.

2. A chew toy with the head already gnawed off by his canine brother who chewed his way into the gift box around the 15th of the month.

3. A chew toy shaped like a shoe which he is immediately going to confuse with the right sneaker of your favorite pair.

4. Central A/C for his Dogloo when you're still using individual wall units that are barely up to cooling a small close-size area in your house.

5. Anything Garfield.

6. A remote control for the refrigerator door.

7. A knitted pink sweater that makes your macho doberman look like a poodle.

8. A deluxe pre-packaged treat-filled Christmas stocking that's large enough for you to use as a sleeping bag.

9. Doggie antlers when your near-sighted hunting relatives will be spending the holidays with you.

10. A stuffed toy dog with an angel's halo as a hint as to what he has to do to get more presents next year.

11. A doggie door between you and the suspicious butcher next door.

12. An audition for a diet dog food commercial where they feed him so much during retakes that he actually gains weight.

13. A piece of jewelry featuring a ceramic dog of his breed for you to wear.

14. His own i-pets.com credit card.

15. A cat.

Well, here's hopin' the weather's great where ever y'all are at! Enjoy the day, be safe, stay well and remember to play nice!

Hi Everyone !

Thought I better check in so you didn't think I had screwed up my computer again.

I have just been really busy catching up with things around home and decided I should stay away from the computer until I got things in shape. The past few days everything was left for later and it was getting to me.

Also Tuffy is asking for more attention.. if I didn't know better I'd swear he knew what was coming Monday.

He had his pre surgery blood work done yesterday and goes in Monday morning to have the dastardly deed done.

Something tells me the next week ain't gonna be a cakewalk! He is NOT going to appreciate wearing that big collar thingie ! And he has a worse temper than I do ! How long does it have to stay on btw ?

Hope you are all having a really great day ! yes2.gif

The tide thingy depends on the gradient of the beach!

In my U.S. Navy we use a very important element that seemed to be quite lacking in the clip ... That is a Beach-Master-Unit to pre-determine the condition of the beach, and direct the boat and/or boat group to a safe landing-zone.

Dog tags ring, are you listenin'?

It's yellow, NOT white - I've been there tonight,
Marking up my winter wonderland.

Smell that tree? That's my fragrance.
It's a sign for wand'ring vagrants;
"Avoid where I pee, it's MY pro-per-ty!
Marked up as my winter wonderland."

In the meadow dad will build a snowman,

Then I'll lift my leg and let it go Man,
So all the world will know it's

Straight from me to the fencepost,
flows my natural incense boast;
"Stay off of my TURF, this small piece of earth,
I mark it as my winter wonderland.

Are you gloating Winston? I have many ties to USC to numerous to count including the fact that half my family went to that fine institution; I dated the guy who directed the card stunts for the football games when I was in college; I was married on the day of the 'Big Game' back in 1979; went to law school with Pat Hayden, and have always had a fond spot for the Trojan horse. On the otherhand, I admire the fact that UCLA pulled it out this year.

Good morning everyone!
(or what ever 'tis where ever you is, eh?)
Ice storm never developed, instead we went right into snow, and it's comin' down, eh? Judgin' by the traffic reports methinks my trip to Girl Scout HQ in Providence'll be a nightmare.

Well, methinks today is a big day for someone. Betcha Liza Janes' more apprehensive than she's lettin' on, eh? Maybe this'll help:

'twas the Night Before Christmas (dog version)

It was about time for Christmas, and all through the house
A creature was stirring, but it wasn't a mouse
I knew right away it was my wife's little pup,
He thought we were sleeping, and so he was up

The dog was a gift it was coercion, really,
A woman can pout, 'til a man gets downright silly.
And now the wife was snoozing she was really sacked out
She wouldn't have awoke from less than a shout.

Yes, her in her nightgown, I in my BVDs,
We had finally settled down to catch some Zs
When off in the kitchen there arose such a clatter,
I rolled from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away down the hall, my head in a muddle,
I reached the kitchen...and stepped in a puddle.
The glow from a nightlight illuminated the room,
So how come I stumbled over the broom?

I fell in a sprawl, my legs were not stable.
On the way down, my nose hit the table.
My head was a spinnin' and when I came to rest
Four miniature dog feet stood on my chest.

With a lick and a bark, he bounded away,
Into the living room, he ran to play.
More rapid than mouses, that Shi Tzu ran,
Me on the follow, rolled newspaper in hand.

"Stop, Tuffy! Stop, Dog! Stop, Pup!
Halt, Pooch! Halt, Boy! Oh, come'ere, you mutt!
"Get off the new couch! Now let go of that curtain!
Ohhh...If I ever catch you, you're gonna' be hurtin'"

As winds of a Texas tornado do fly,
He spun round the room, down low and up high.
Then up on the countertop, that puppy went
He stopped for a second. I thought he was spent.

I make a quick lunge, he ducked me and then
Yawned when I dove through the flour bin.
As I drew out my head and was turning around,
He made for the presents, in a single bound.

I was covered with flour, from my head to my toes,
My robe in tatters, and blood on my nose.
A bag full of toys, he grabbed with glee
I nabbed him, I thought, but instead got the tree.

The ornaments, they broke, as they began to fall
The lights, how they fizzled, and that is not all.
When I reached for the plug, to turn the bulbs out,
What flowed through my body, but electricity, so stout!

As smoke encircled my head like a wreath,
That dog held my big toe, tight in his teeth.
"Tuffy," I moaned, "I give up. Oh, Tuffy, I give in."
So he bit my swollen nose, and nipped at my chin.

He spoke not a word, but went back to work,
Down came the stockings it took just a jerk.
Then up from the hall, came the sound of feet,
Momma, it seemed was awake from her sleep.

"Now you'll get it pup," I announced with glee.
Then Tuffy walked over and put his little head on my knee.
He looked up at my wife - so innocent - and at me, so, so sad.
And it didn't take long, to know I'd been had.

Then came the wife's voice, so strong and so clear,
"Les, you leave that puppy alone! You hear!"
And I exclaimed to myself, as they walked out with a strut,
"Don't leave any gifts, Santa just PICK UP THE MUTT!"

'The night before Christmas' was written by Bill McClellan, I just modified it a bit

'Course after today methinks you can insert "it" in place of "him", eh?

Well, here's hopin' the weather's great where ever y'all are at, or at least better'n here! Enjoy the day, be safe, stay well and remember to play nice!

Have a nice day!

I love the dog stories. They make me smile big time. And Tuffy's antics are just down right neat. I have been dealing with verizon online DSL for a full day now and think I've managed to sort things out between Bangalore, India, and the billing office. All because I was trying to change the wireless router for my computer last night interrupted by obsequious messages from verizone online dsl. I think things are now squared away. The hold wait time to reach anyone who speaks English without an accent is 9 minutes this morning. And there are at least 350 calls in the queue ahead of anyone calling in. I just know these things from the man I managed to reach finally. What a way to start a Monday morning.
Its very windy here and chilly. But at least it is sunny, and not gray.
Indianhead
Well, I don't have a dog story, but I did have a donkey in the driveway.

I'd just come in from bagging about three dozens flowering bushes
(it's supposed to get down to 25 here tonight) when I heard a knock on
my front door. I was in my long-johns, having just stipped off my coveralls and work boots, and the woman there asked me: "Is that your donkey in the driveway?"

Well no it wasn't, my five rural acres
(where livestock is not allowed- allegedly) has no livestock.

But, being an affable gentleman I decided to feed her a green apple, some deer corn and tie her up for the owner. The lady, who knocked, went down the street to
the rebellious resident who has goats (and the donkey) and brought her here.

She got her ("Sunshine" she called her) to follow her home with a pail of feed,
but she couldn't understand why the donkey hestitated...
I guess she hadn't fed her a green apple lately...

So, I put some dry dog food out for the racoons (with a pail
of water) and some corn out for the doe who drops in...and
made a Jim Beam and coke. Just another day in South La.
The fireplace is roarin' and I still haven't turned on the heat yet...
that's how you get by well on public service retirement and
parttime work.

I also had a holiday thought...it was, afterall, a donkey that
carried my Savior
. So I accepted the omen as Christian
(and perhaps Democrat).

Peace on Earth, good will toward men...

Hi guys ! Sorry, I have had a lot on my mind today and haven't been online till now.

Now I am patiently waiting for the call to go pick up my wee guy. In addition to the main procedure he was having a dew claw removed and his tear ducts flushed. He won't know what hit him and until I actually hold him I am not going to relax.

The collar will be another story. I know my Tuffy.. he is going to absolutely hate it and will do all in his power to get rid of it. You think I'm stubborn ? I'm a meek little lamb in comparison to that feisty wee furball.

I LOVE the poem Fly !

Funny how empty this home feels today. Didn't take long for Tuffy to declare ownership did it !

And Pie.. you are right .. Tuffy will be a big part of this year's story for the kids. I just haven't thought it through yet. smile.gif

14 square miles (so far) in Ventura County burned to a crisp in the Santa Ana winds. Gusts at 70mph and sustained winds at 40. Temp in high 70's, low 80's. Relative humidity at less than 10%- about the same as table salt. Sunshine is sometimes more than it's cracked up to be... sad.gif

I saw this on the news. Not good at all. I see KT posted tonight, so I assume she is fine. How is your grand daughter ?!

Brrrrrrrr Steve- guess that snow hasn't melted, huh ? :cold:
And even nippy in NOLA and Kentuck and Canada and Lil Rhody.
Wonder if Skillet has snow in Tahoe yet ?

Love the donkey story. laugh.gif Now that is different- donkey in the driveway !

Hope Tuffy, soon to be the central character in a Christmas story, is doing okay.

For Vet: The web site for the TRICARE Region South should have all the info and contacts your brother needs to get the help he needs and stop gettin' the runaround, eh? If he don't have internet access just have him call 1-800-444-5445 and they'll get him fixed up.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this. The snow this mornin', Girl Scout stuff all day that took longer than 'twas supposed to, then conductin' Girl Scout leader first aid trainin' tonight kept me away more'n I figured. Hope this gets him what he needs.

I'm sort of disgusted about some stuff and will be taking a few days off to think things over
I see you ran into some of our CGCS clairvoyants that know what we're thinkin' better'n we do, eh? Methinks if folks'd just do what Snuffy did and actually read what's written instead of injectin' their own spin into it discussions'd be a whole lot better.

So....umm....Doc.....why do YOU think I THINK I need those particular tools?
To get rid of incriminatin' stuff after he pisses you off so bad you just do him in, eh? 'Course if you got caught anyway you could always claim 'twas a sacrifice to the "Good Job God" and say you was just enjoyin' your right of religious freedom.

Well, I don't have a dog story, but I did have a donkey in the driveway
I like donkey stories! 'Course it might be 'cause I use to be a Democrat, 'til in 1988 they figured us moderates wasn't welcome anymore, eh? Now 'twould seem some're bein' welcomed back, 'cept by them that still wanna impose far left ideological purity tests on all Democrats. After this year methinks I can count myself in the same boat as Joe Lieberman.

I LOVE the poem Fly !
Figured you might be in need of somethin' like it. Methinks, if I look hard, I might find a few more. Sure be easier if you got a cat though.

BTW, methinks you nailed #41, eh?

I'd say Good Morning but it seems as if its still the middle of the night. Tuffy woke me up an hour ago and as he hadn't had any food since Sunday night's dinner I very quickly provided his breakfast which he devoured. I still am trying to figure out how to give him his medicine however.

They gave me three syringes, one for each of the next three days for pain and even told me how to give it to him. They made it sound very simple" just open his mouth and drop the three drops in to his mouth after his food." Sounds simple doesn't it.

Nope .. how do you get a pup to open his mouth when he definitely doesn't want to ? And while he is wearing that collar ? If I take it off he will fight me to the death to avoid its being reattached to him. I'm stumped at the moment.

At the moment he doesn't appear to be in pain so maybe he doesn't need it ? He is now lying at my feet apparently about to go to sleep. I have a feeling the next couple of days are going to be a challenge. But he is being very good. Waking up at 4.45 is understandable. He was starving! So I'm up early .. big deal. Early rising never killed anyone as far as I know !

Now all I want to know .. is what do I do until my mind wakes up ? blink.gif

I must be dreaming. Seems I detect a compliment here. Nah, can't be.
