Just literally now saw this. Time correspondent Michael Ware is on vacation from Iraq and talked to Aaron Brown about how things are there. Anyone else catch that? I was really taken by how provocatively Michael Ware put it; how badly the war is failing and how totally true it is that only more terrorists are being created by the war and occupation. We all hear about and talk about it, but he just put it so plainly (yet provocatively) and in no uncertain terms; and that from someone who's been there in the thick of it since the beginning. It was just a no BS, frank impression with no hint of him "taking a side on it".

By the way he also talked about how impressed he has been with the soldiers, the examples of leadership among them and just generally how brave they are... he stated that very provocatively and strongly also...

a transcript of it might sort of miss how strongly he felt about his impressions...

I saw Michael Ware on one of the other shows a couple of nights ago, it might have been Hardball. He did tell it like it is. I was really surprised that the mainstream media let him speak his mind and allowed us to see him. It's certainly not what we expect from them these days. Seems like they've been letting a little truth slip thru in the past week or so.

I just checked, it looks like 'Aaron Brown' will be rerun tonight at midnight (central time) on CNN. I will watch for it.

Thanks for posting and letting us know.

Michael Ware has had strong feelngs about both Afghanistan and Iraq and is very available to provide his views for quite a while. I think this is like his third interview on CNN and just about every western news organization has interviewed him at least once.

He apparently gets along well with the insurgents in Iraq because instead of being embedded with American troops he says he's embedded with Iraqi insurgents. He also claims to have interviewed Zarquawi. He also was in Iraq before the United States invaded doing a piece about the conflict betweem the Kurds and Al Ansar Islam.

Here's some links to his previous interviews/articles, I'm surprised this is the first you heard of him.

He seems to be pretty well connected in the part of the world he's reporting in. The only problems seem to be some of his predictions on Afghanistan didn't end up happening.

No not the 1st I've of heard of him. Seen his reporting many times; haven't read him. He's an animated reporter and I've thought in a real way... not in a "Geraldo way".

As for him having "strong feelings" about anything, maybe he does I don't know, but I was grasping for words when I posted and sort of misrepresented how he came across by saying "how strongly he felt about his impressions"... he was just very compelling and in a thoughtful way also I thought... he wasn't all charged up by being "on the ground" and in the moment as we usually have seen (all scruffy looking).

He's had plenty of practice on giving out interviews, I'm not surprised that he's good at it. The first time I saw him was an interview he gave in early 2002 from Afghanistan. He has been on CNN at least three times in the past twelve months and on hardball about two weeks ago. A lot of the other news agensies appear to use him as a source too for quotes.

The guy has to be really brave, travels with the insurgents and the insurgents usually chop off the head of any westerner they get their hands on for kicks. The terrorist must really like him or thinks he's worth more to them alive than dead.

And methinks maybe the same goes for Iraq. "Zarqawi network appeals for help in first signals of defeat " 'twould seem is not a headline he'd be wanting to write, eh?
