Arizona native and Tucson-area resident M. Scotty Johnson, who was recently trained by former Vice President Al Gore and his team of scientists, will be giving a series of presentations about global warming.

Johnson, a conservationist, teacher and the senior out- reach representative for Defenders of Wildlife, was one of 200 people chosen internationally out of about 2,000 applicants to attend a three-day global climate change training session in Nashville.

"Global climate change is serious, deadly serious," Johnson said. "Yet, all of us can be a part of this solution; that's exciting. I now have tools to help spark an aware movement to solve this urgent problem."

After his successful movie An Inconvenient Truth was released last spring, Gore formed the Climate Project. This organization's mission is to train individuals to present their own modified version of his presentation about global warming.

Johnson will begin making presentations throughout Arizona in March. To schedule a presentation, e-mail him at sjoh nson@defenders.org or call (520) 623-9653, Ext. 103. The presentations are free.
