Rep. John Doolittle's (R-Calif.) 2006 Democratic opponent has filed for a rematch in 2008aiming to continue to build on a revitalized Democratic base in California's 4th district in the coming months.

Democrat Charlie Brown is officially a repeat candidate after holding the nine-term incumbent to under 50 percent of the vote in November. He filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) last month so he could start raising money and gauge his support while he considers a bid,he said,but California political operatives see him as the only viable option versus Doolittle and expect him to run again.
