If the California Democratic Party can hold its state convention in San Diego, SO CAN WE! woohoo2.gif

As it looks right now, we will be getting together at around 6:00 on Saturday the 28th. Exact location TBD.

This is open to anyone, and bring along your wifi'd laptop! We can have a Special Saturday Nite Chat with all of us together, chatting with anyone who wants to join us!

I'll be posting more information here.

It appears that the Dodgers and Padres will be playing at PETCO on Saturday, 4/28. Game starts at 7:05. The stadium is across the street from the Convention Center. Seems a natural that we could have our mini-convention watching one team beat up on the other... is that not diplomacy, or what!

If this interests you, then I'll set up a ticket purchase through my PayPal account.

PM me.

What Pie? Doesn't PETCO stadium have wifi? All of us could chat with all of you, giving you a play by play of the game, Vin Skully style... headspin.gif

Here, Winston eatthebunny.gif - maybe this will calm the thoughts of wifi and a play-by-play from the stadium. roflmao.gif

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY! Put that date on your calendar. Members of CGCS will be getting together in San Diego on Saturday, April 28. This date coincides with the California State Democratic Convention, which will be held in San Diego that weekend. I wonder if any lapsed CGCS members will be delegates?? I’m thinking mommadona or CaliDem.

If you are interested in meeting, please give me an idea of what you would like to do, what your budget would be for restaurants, etc. Winston Smith has been organizing this, but he is taking a temporary sabbatical from CGCS. (Hopefully he will be back among us soon.) As a San Diego resident, I am acting as co-host.

Please consider coming if it is AT ALL possible – especially if you’re a California resident. Zonies sunshine.gif and Nevadans, and anyone else, are most welcome as well!

As if meeting me, Winston Smith and potentially other CGCS denizens isn't enough inducement, I might be able to finagle an afternoon or evening boat cruise around San Diego Bay. See your defense dollars at work, view the beautiful San Diego skyline, and get out on the water.

Let me know...

Unfortunately, it appears that the plans for a CGCS get-together in San Diego to coincide with the California State Democratic Party convention this month are not working out.

Perhaps we can plan something for another time.

I'm totally bummed about this, by the way.

I am sorry Beamer that this one didn't work out. I was fortunate to meet some of the members in Ventura back in August of 2005 although it was a very difficult time for me. I am unable to travel far from home now so I would be unable to make the S.D. trip as much as I would love to see you and the others. We can still keep up our friendships here until another opportunity comes along. Is winston okay or has anyone heard from him lately? He is in my prayers. I know from personal experience how difficult life can be sometimes.

Hey KT, thanks for the kind thoughts.

It's "possible" that we could still meet on the 28th, but it is highly doubtful at this point. I think PP, maus, billfmsd, possibly TROU, me and, of course WS, were planning to get together and have dinner. Skillet (mtnmagic) also was interested in coming, but I don't know if she would have been able to make it. Jeffmoskin also lives in the LA area but wasn't able to make it this time. I believe I could also have gotten a boat ride for everyone. It would have been a great opportunity. But, it's probably not going to happen.

PP suggested to me that the SoCal people meet sometime soon in San Clemente or somewhere between San Diego and LA. I'd rather just go to LA because it would be a lot more fun than San Clemente! When I think San Clemente, I think Richard Nixon!

I missed the Ventura get-together two years ago, and last year the bbq at WS's house didn't happen. It seems like people from CGCS have a reluctance to actually meet in person. It's easier to stay in our comfort zones of just online relationship. It would be fun to meet everyone from CGCS in a central US location. rla lives in Arkansas (that's sort of central) and has some property I believe. Or, maybe we should all just splurge and head over to Hawaii to get together with DWB04 for a beach party!

I have talked to a couple of CGCSers on the phone and have had what I consider close relationships with a few people here. I definitely am interested in meeting people from CGCS and making our relationships more real and perhaps more meaningful. After all, some of us have been together here or on the Kerry forum for three years!
