Is there some reason or are you just a destructive idiot?
ap215
I'm sorry tom but i didn't insult you and i don't call people names here. Hoyer's a DLC'er and he has got to go.
tomhye
If that's the only reason you just convinced me to contribute to his next campaign.

What problem do you have with ap215's posting? And, whatever the problem might be, is it really necessary for you to use insulting language?

It gave no reason for advocating a clearly destructive and counterproductive action. He won't resign, harrassing him when we need to unify to take on the neocons makes absolutely no sense, trying to fragment the pary to push for a minoriy group to take over is hubris. ap215 gave a reason (albeit a profoundly deficient one), had here been no reason destructive idiot would be the kindest possible description.

Your opinion here invites discussion and I agree that fragmenting the Dem party probably is not the best approach, at this point in time. But others feel very differently about this issue of "democratic unity" when they disagree with the positions of some Dems. I have a personal struggle with that very issue with many in the Dem party. Come on Tom, no matter how much we disagree with one another, name calling is unkind, it interferes with intelligent discussion and besides, the last time I looked, it's against forum rules. whistling.gif

Wel if that's what you want then be my guest. Can't wait for the primaries.

If you're saying it was name calling we are in basic and possibly irreconcilable disagreement. For it to fit that category the conditions stated for the categorization need to be met, as poor as I think the stated reason was I'm reasonably certain ap215 would agree that anyone making such a call for no reason would be a destructive idiot.

ap215 -- I have to confess ignorance regarding any controversy surrounding the Majority Leader. What's up? Is this about dropping the Iran provision from the latest war related legislation expected from the House? Please enlighten me regarding your displeasure with Mr. Hoyer.

Okay, we're in basic and irreconcilable disagreement about this issue and I'll leave it at that.

That's one of them but the real reason about Hoyer is the group he represents the DLC which never wants to do the right thing except to butt in and get what they want.

I don't understand why anyone is upset at me here are people here now defending the DLC? I want to do the right thing and turn the democratic party back to the people and progressive party not a corporatist, conservative party.

tomhye -- I have to agree with Amy here. I know sometimes it's tempting to use inappropriately strong language to make a point, but the wiser course of action is to stop yourself. Insults only work to deteriorate rather than elevate the conversation. Let's play nice with one another -- okay? smile.gif

So a statement about a category the individual doesn't belong to is an insult against that individual?

I get your point, but I think use of the word "idiot" was needlessly inflamatory and brings you right up to the line of implying the person may be an idiot -- and you know that's not going to go over well.

It might not have packed quite the same punch, but I think you would have gotten your message across and possibly received a more thoughtful response from ap if you had left at, "Is there some reason?" and deleted the part about "or are you just a destructive idiot?" rolleyes.gif
