Strange...I know this won't inspire any comments...but, somehow the area between Hue and Danang,
between the Tonkin Gulf and Loas will always be close...left a few friends there ya see...I hope the
people aren't hurt to badly...they'd better take some high ground, the way the rivers flood.

Remember it, and the people there well from my first tour, eh? Luckily all of us in my squad came back, unfortunately most on the same medevac flight. Methinks I got plenty of fond memories of the area though.

I wanted to put this somewhere…

When you go into action…you have a duty to say what you think,
and this is such a time. Some call it a hunch, others discernment.
All I know is when I’ve got this feeling it meant lives.

I’ve not been of high rank or universally agreed upon brilliance…
I’m just an average guy…who has seen some extraordinary times.

I have nothing against a bastard son. Linage, however important,
does not totally define men. What they do in action does. And, if
there is no resume “in action” it takes more.

Barack Obama’s history is defined by his faith, his doctrine
of African allegiance, his civil rights service that also provided
for his personal homestead, and a Senate election against Allen Keyes.

I see no true character test. No military service…no facing of firearms
or political litmus test. Instead I see a Chicago politician with pop-culture
credentials, which doesn’t reach back to the 60s or 70s…a Nuevo-hero.

I have never followed such…it doesn’t make dirt-sense to me.
And dirt…land…families…service…is my basis. I’ve come to
understand these things are required of men of character.

But, I don’t mean nothin’…I’m just an average guy…so forget
about my advice…unless you are going on patrol. Unless your life,
your future depends on it…in those cases I have been spooky.

And so, I offer my feelings…that a woman may be the change
my country needs…a woman who has been though child birth
and political litmus tests…carries weight. A woman that put aside
infidelity of her husband for my country, her daughter. Such ranks
with heroism under fire IMHO. But, who the hell am I…just a
guy whose advice would have saved lives on the field of action…
if it had been listened to.

So...whether it's a typhoon in The Central Highlands...or an
American election...there's a storm brewing...and I watch the weather.

A supercell is developing...and after Tuesday...I may go on...
which of course...don't mean nothin'. Vaya con dios.

Thanks KT Jack is my favorite....every since Easy Rider
and Five Easy Pieces...before One Flew Over the Coo-Coos
Nest....and I agree nothing is more sexy than saluting a woman.

But, then I'm born and reared to love them. We'll see soon how the
rain falls...we're under a sever thunderstorm and wind watch tomorrow evening...
I hope my corn, okra and beans hold up...I planted sprouts a week ago and 99% took.

Ground is a funny thing...having my hands and feet in the dirt makes me feel
a sense of ownership...like my garden and the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
I bet the guys who pulled multiple tours In Iraq and Afghanistan feel the same
way about that sand and dust. When I work in dirt I feel close to God...since it's
His blessing that I have it in peace and that it can feed me and mine. And, one day
she'll swallow me for that final nap...when I expect to see Jesus...God willing.

Peace, lady.
