General David Petraeus and US envoy Ryan Crocker are not alone as they go through their paces before the US Congress. There's a ghostly figure beside them, that of "hot-headed", "radical cleric" Muqtada al-Sadr, who has made a mockery of their plans for a pacified Iraq. British author and journalist Patrick Cockburn, in a book out this week, sheds new light on Muqtada, the canny, cautious, strategically savvy political leader who has called for a million-strong march in Baghdad this week.
