Ohio Recount Ready to Begin

On Monday December 6, Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell certified the official results of the 2004 presidential election. The 88 County Boards of Election can now legally accept requests for a recount of the election.

We anticipate a recount is likely to take place in most counties on December 14. If you are preparing to be a witness, please keep this date in mind. A Recount could start as early as December 13 in some counties.

The Ohio Democratic Party has trained Recount Coordinators for nearly all Ohio counties.

We anticipate we will need 500 to 700 witnesses to participate in the recount.

We understand you have expressed interest in volunteering as a witness. Coordinator and witness do not need to be Ohio residents:

We are making the names and contact information of witness volunteers available to the coordinators and assisting the coordinators in selecting a recount team for each county.

We are also in need of coordinators for the following counties.
1. Coshocton
2. Crawford
3. Darke
4. Defiance
5. Madison
6. Mercer
7. Van Wert
8. Guernsey

Please email or call John Sauter at the Ohio Democratic Party at 614-221-6563 ext. 115 or john@ohiodems.org if you can serve as a coordinator. John will send you a DVD and a packet of all the material required to serve as a coordinator.

If you have any further questions, please contact Dan Trevas at (614) 229-4149 or dan@ohiodems.org
