I am from a farming state and have serious health issues and smoke....

I am tired of all the laws and pressure, prejudice and punishment of smoking being laid on the smokers back.

I do not want to smoke and try many times to quit but I AM A NICOTINE ADDICT.

Why do the no smoking laws keep getting passed and health insurance providers and corporations continue to punish the victim of corporate greed and promotion of addiction.

I just found out my youngest child age 22 has just started smoking.

I get so angry. WHY NOT just make the growing of tobacco and distributing of cigarettes illegal? Why not fine the tobacco companies for pushing drugs .

Whirlpool Corp. has suspended 39 workers at its Evansville, Ind., plant because they claimed on their health insurance that they were nonsmokers but were seen smoking in designated areas outside the plant. The company requires smokers to pay an extra $500 in insurance premiums.

Company spokeswoman Debby Castrale toldFox Newsthat Whirlpool considers falsifying company documents a serious offense. Fact-finding meetings will be held with each of the suspended workers over the next few days, followed by final disciplinary action. Some may be fired.

Most of the 39 suspensions involved production workers. More suspensions, possibly including some administrative staff, could come, Castrale said.

Whirlpool had to recall some laid-off workers to keep production running due to the suspensions, theAssociated Pressreported.
