Friday July 25, 2008- this past week the NY Democratic Party leaders announced the launch of the DNC's new voter file management system which will expand and change the way people are contacted for political campaigns. As part of the 50 state strategy, the new software program created by PartyBuilder, will allow ordinary people to receive calling sheets to contact their neighbors in a given town or city to identify Democratic and Independent voters.

The launch of the program, which was announced on a grassroots conference call by NY Democratic Party leaders June O'Neil (Chairwoman) and David Pollack (Political Outreach Director), will primarily focus on identifying voters who will support Barack Obama's presidency.

The DNC's voter file program has not yet been released to all 50 states as it is first being tested out in only a handful of states to begin with and to gauge how successful the program will be. The PartyBuilder program will enable people to print out their own walk list from their home computer containing potential voter addresses and a section on each voter to fill out information based on how the voter believes he/she will vote in the election.

In NY, the impact of this new program won't have the same impact as swing states where results will be made possible right away. By putting walk lists in the hands of ordinary people, more potential voters can be contacted and reached to vote in the election and to remind them how crucial their vote will be in the general election.

Additionally, in NY and around the country, the DNC and state Democratic Party institutions will be able update their vote files quicker and more effeciently, not to mention increase their voter files drastically.

What is really exciting about this program is that the DNC is working on expanding the voter file program to include down the line Democratic races. Currently the walk lists only include Senator Obama related responses but as the success of the program is displayed, the software program will expand to include candidates for Congress, Senate, and state races.
