I am growing tired of reading "somebody should do..." or "why isn't the media covering this..." and the like.

WAKE UP!!!! Nobody is going to do anything unless they have motivation.

How can you help?

1. Establish a personal relationship with a reporter or editor at their local newspaper, or better, a national paper or wire service. Feed them this information.

2. Make an appointment and vist your local news media. Print out some article and facts. Deliver it to them in person. Ask why they are not covering this.

3. Google for information. Whenever you see an interesting post, do some research. Post related information that may be helpful.

4. Participate in the rallies 12/12. Better yet, call and email each and every one of your friends now to tell them about the one at your state capitol tomorrow at noon. (If you've not seen one advertised, just show up). Be sure to contact your local TV news assignment editor TODAY to be sure there is video coverage.

5. Email the CGCS link to all your friends. Educate them!

riot. riots are what people pay attention to. that is what needs to be done. riot always bring about change.

Also, why don't all of these democratic forums and organizations all combine into one? We have a couple of really large forums( CMCG, DU, ect) why not combine into one mega organization?

Make a pressboard sign with something simple, such as

VOTERGATE

or

COUNT EVERY VOTE

or

MEDIA CLAMPDOWN

or

INVESTIGATE THE US VOTE FRAUD

and go to one of those national morning shows. Stand with the crowd (not showing your sign) then when the camera pans the crowd and the red light comes on, hold it up!

Get creative. Get the word out.

If you don't do it, who will?

Let's do this in memory of Phil Ochs.

OUTSIDE A SMALL CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

Look outside the window, there’s a woman being grabbed
They’ve dragged her to the bushes and now she’s being stabbed
Maybe we should call the cops and try to stop the pain
But monopoly is so much fun, I’d hate to blow the game
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends.

Riding down the highway, yes, my back is getting stiff
Thirteen cars are piled up, they’re hanging on a cliff.
Maybe we should pull them back with our towing chain
But we gotta move and we might get sued and it looks like it’s gonna rain
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends.

Sweating in the ghetto with the (colored/panthers) and the poor
The rats have joined the babies who are sleeping on the floor
Now wouldn’t it be a riot if they really blew their tops?
But they got too much already and besides we got the cops
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends.

Oh there’s a dirty paper using sex to make a sale
The supreme court was so upset, they sent him off to jail.
Maybe we should help the fiend and take away his fine. (*)
But we’re busy reading playboy and the sunday new york times
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Smoking marihuana is more fun than drinking beer,
But a friend of ours was captured and they gave him thirty years
Maybe we should raise our voices, ask somebody why
But demonstrations are a drag, besides we’re much too high
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Oh look outside the window, there’s a woman being grabbed
They’ve dragged her to the bushes and now she’s being stabbed
Maybe we should call the cops and try to stop the pain
But monopoly is so much fun, I’d hate to blow the game
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

[ additional verse, 1974 ]
Down in santiago where they took away our mines
We cut off all their money so they robbed the storehouse blind
Now maybe we should ask some questions, maybe shed a tear
But I bet you a copper penny, it cannot happen here
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

This is a difficult weekend because we're on the cusp of EVERYTHING starting to happen: Ohio recount, Conyers Ohio hearing and the electoral vote. My advice is pour yourself a glass of wine, chill out and let the scenario play out for a few days. 99.9% of us are geographically unable to participate in what's actually happening on the ground. We can email, schmooze, beg, whine and cry, but unless there are proven irregularities which emerge as a result of the recount or hearing, no one is going to pay attention. I don't know how the Bush administration has managed to control the mainsteam media, but they have. They're bought and paid for and unless an earth shattering revelation occurs, they won't cover the story. I keep reading posts that seem to suggest Kerry is working beneath the surface, but I don't believe it. Likewise, the grand conspiracy theories Activisms posts would make a great screenplay, but it all seems like fiction. Surely there would be news from somewhere about a serious investigation by some federal agency into voting fraud. We're in the "wait and see" mode. After all, this isn't the Ukraine and we can't expect immediate results. How wrong is that? mad.gif

Now is the time for all to come to the aid of their country.

If you can agree on what constitutes "country" in this context, there's your click-your icon-your moment of zen-1000words=1picture moment that will convey what is wrong at this time.

It's Pluto and Mars, ya know.....not very nice "neighbors".

With respect, I think your listed methods are passive.

Does any of that matter in a dictatorship?

What we really need is a good old fashioned riot right in the middle of all these investigations, I think Conyers will do the right thing and move to try to delay the electoral college, after all an election based on lies is another form of dictatorship!! ! :o :o :o blink.gif

PET PEEVE #2

I am pi**es off about corporations taking songs we grew up with (and the bands for selling out*) and turning them into TV ads.

The Who - "Happy Jack" is selling Hummers
Led Zepplin (don't recall the title) is selling Cadillacs
Jefferson Airplane - Volunteers - THIS GOES TO ACTIVISM'S POINT! is selling a stock trading service.

Is this where the hippies have gone? Yikes. OR is it the yuppies' taking over Madison Avenue?

VOLUNTEERS

Kantner/Slick

Look what’s happening out in the streets
Got a revolution got to revolution
Hey I’m dancing down the streets
Got a revolution got to revolution
Ain’t it amazing all the people I meet
Got a revolution got to revolution
One generation got old
One generation got soul
This generation got no destination to hold
Pick up the cry
Hey now it’s time for you and me
Got a revolution got to revolution
Come on now we’re marching to the sea
Got a revolution got to revolution
Who will take it from you
We will and who are we
We are volunteers of america

I was, am ?, a hippie, still. I don't want to be on the cusp of anything. It's been 6 friggin' weeks!! At least in 2000, Florida was going through the motions. This is insane.
