Barack Obama will be the opening act for Led Zeppelin's "Man Are We Old" 2009 World Reunion tour, replacing Toto, the aging rock band that broke up earlier this year.

The Senator's three-hour and seventy-five minute presentation will include audience favorites such as "Hope Early, Hope Often," "I Don't Look Like The Presidents On The Money," and "I Was Right and She Was Wrong (Ode to Hillary)."

In addition, the Democratic presidential nominee will be performing selections from his upcoming CD, "McCain Can Suck McCock," including "Once I'm President, I Be Speakin' Dis Way!," "Now for my Secret Muslim Plan," and "Half-Black, Half-Right."

A spokesperson for Led Zeppelin said Obama was not their initial choice, "but after seeing the John McCain campaign ads depicting him as this humongous rock-star, we thought ‘Hey, maybe he could hook us up witih Paris Hilton.'"

Heart why don't you have a laugh

Jimmy Carter is decades and decades from now, when God calls him home going to be taking that "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN"

whereas Joe Lieberman, the AIPAC lovers, the war mongers, the Clintons&Bushes are
on that "Highway to Hell" along with their buddy McCain.

The Devil went down to Georgia and Jimmy Carter kicked the BushClinton's arse on his way to that Mansion in the Sky in the long off future.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
heart
ummmm....okay biggrin.gif

But, Jimmy Page wrote that song in the castle he bought that Aleister Crowley lived in (the most evil man in the world according to his obit) and the Page has proceeded to buy everything ever related to Aleister Crowley and is still the high bidder on most of that stuff. I don't think he is buying any stairway to heaven.

Since I do believe that extremely rich people are going to have a very hard time getting to heaven, I suppose you may be right about them being on the "Highway to Hell", but not because they are attached to any given policy if their reasons for doing so were the best thing they could think to do at the time.

As for AIPAC, sorry God's not against that in any of the holy books from the Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition. For if I forget thee oh Jerusalem.....and if you can't fill in that verse then you are as Jewish as I am Georgian.

The Devil may have come to Georgia, but he lost so.....

Anyway dear, it was only for your amusement. I am supporting Obama which you seem to forget very easy.

but don't forget to pick up a copy of the new Robert Plant- Alison Krauss duet album

Reminds one that Plant and Page were two very talented professional English musicians

That lp is indeed heavenly

and that's no joke.

What's your favorite LZ song Graham?

Funny, but mine is Kashmir....now that is funny! You have to admit!

I will go and look for the Plant/Kraus songs. What is the best song on that disc? Not album because I don't have anything to play it on (though I am looking for one as I have some records to sell but can't rate their condition unless I listen to them). Like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Billy Strange, PP and M, and "The Volunteers....Jefferson Airplane". I even have a LP signed to me by Pinetop Perkins, my favorite blues dude.

Back when they were on top, I was more Elton/Bowie/Queen piano based instead of guitar base
mrs.graham was really into them
and she "forced" me to see them 3 or 4 times at the Garden They put on some kool shows though I am not really a fan of long guitar solos

So actually, Stairway is my favorite song, because its atypical of them.

As for the Krauss/Plant, you tube them(these days EVERYTHING is on youtube, and you can hear it out of your computer for free),
it is really downright bizarre how good the two are,
sort of like coming from both ends and meeting in some place even further out there, but yet, like a David Lynch film, it all makes sense.
Find one that is more typical of Alison and see how Plant blends it
Then find one more typical of him and see how she does

I bet alot of people were wondering what the two of them were smokin' the night they decided to collaborate

One of these days gonna get me one of those old stereo/cd/cassette players...I don't have a working stereo anymore either.

Will do!

I actually like both of them a lot. Great musicians.

I like David Lynch films too, especially Mulholland Drive. I think I like his soundtracks even more. My favorite is still David Fincher though, with Tarantino a very close runner up.

I just saw Blue Velvet for the first time. An obvious precursor to Twin Peaks.

And I like the Krauss/Plant duo as well.

Heart, do you not do iTunes?
heart
Not really. The news is always on and so I don't often listen to music except in my room. You know that I have all of the VAS, Niyaz, Azam Ali, Loreena Mckinnett and Dead Can Dance music in there to go along with the middle eastern theme of the bedroom. Every now and then I play a bit of Concrete Blonde (who I just love even though they are splite up and the Indigo Girls who are fabulous!!!! I also listen to some of the 80's and 90's music I like. When I'm in the car I listen to a mostly alternative music station. I'm afraid to go for walks and listen to my ipod type thing because I think someone could come up behind me and I wouldn't hear them. Silly huh? They didn't make much of suburban/country Georgia with sidewalks you know?

That on location tape of Kashmir on the Led Zeppelin concert DVD just gives me chills up and down my spine.

Oh, and Graham, I'm convinced that you live where you can see the "Garden" hahahaha! You have been to so many concerts. You are very lucky.

Mulholland Drive is one of my 10 favorites
I don't like Tarantino much, he copied Lynch (though they are enjoyable).
Lynch delves more into a Hitchcock without rules.

Julee Cruise is the singer in Twin Peaks/Blue Velvet
Saw her in concert doing only Lynch, and not one person in the studio knew if she were live or lipsynching, but
it was hypnotizing the entire production

Youtube Julee there are at least 20 different things on her, too bad she never became bigger. Really down to earth
person too. She even appeared on SNL (she was a last minute add, something with the original singer-think she replaced Sinead O'connor when Sinead hated the host AD Clay)

BTW, I used to in the 90s, before I had 3 bad flights in a row, when I flew just about monthly, take off to Julee...it was like an out of body experience...

just looked it up-from David Lynch's site
Julee Cruise Press Kit - MEDIA INFORMATION (1993)
As a recording artist, Julee Cruise originally joined up with film director David Lynch and composer Angelo Badalamenti for her widely acclaimed debut album on Warner Bros. Records, Floating Into The Night, which hit the Billboard charts in 1990. The music was prominently integrated into Lynch's ground breaking TV series Twin Peaks, in which Julee had a recurring role. Eventually the Peaks soundtrack became the largest selling TV soundtrack in history and enjoyed worldwide success, as did Julee's album and hit single "Falling," the show's arresting and ethereal theme song. Julee followed up with a concert tour, including her debut at London's legendary Palladium, and a controversial musical guest appearance on Saturday Night Live (she stepped in when Sinead O'Conner refused to appear with host Andrew Dice Clay). Julee first collaborated with Lynch/Badalamenti for the song "Mysteries Of Love" in the notorious Lynch movie classic Blue Velvet. The three also produced an original full length performance video Industrial Symphony #1, a memorable extravaganza filmed live on the main opera stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (Julee performed the piece almost entirely airborne) as part of the Next Wave Festival. Julee appeared in the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and on the soundtrack, and sang the movie's theme song "Questions in a World Of Blue" under a full moon on a beach in the French Riviera for the film's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 1992. Badalamenti also featured her voice at the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona.

Along with U2, REM, k.d. lang and others, her singing was heard in the Wim Wenders movie Until The End Of The World, doing a cover of the old Elvis tune "Summer Kisses, Winter Tears," which was subsequently used as the music behind a Kim Bassinger lingerie commercial that aired only in Europe and the Far East. Julee Cruise holds a degree in French Horn from Drake University and performed with several orchestras before getting her break in acting. Among her stage credits are House Of Blue Leaves, A Little Night Music, Beehive, Little Shop Of Horrors, Cabaret, Pump Bovs and Dinettes, and the award-winning sci-fi Shakespearean spoof Return To The Forbidden Planet. Her voice can be found on radio and TV commercials if you listen closely. While starring in Planet in New York she was seen by Fred Schneider, the unmistakable lead singer for -the B-52s. Along with Fellow B's guitarist Keith Strickland, vocalist Kate Pierson and keyboardist Pat Irwin, Fred was searching for a singer to replace founding member Cindy Wilson on an upcoming tour. Julee subsequently joined the band for a 1 992-93 tour through North and South America and Europe, including a featured performance at Bill Clinton's inauguration. "I loved working with Kate, Fred, Keith and the band," Julee says. "The B's are real special. It's the most fun I ever had on stage. I hope to do it again someday." The Voice Of Love is Julee's much-anticipated second LP for Warner Bros., slated for an Oct 12, 1993 release. "The reason why it took some time to do the second record," Julee explains, "is because David, Angelo and I were all so busy and we really wanted to have the right amount of time together to do the music the way we wanted it, and not rush things. I think the result speaks for itself. While it's the same basic style as my first album, the music has evolved considerably." Julee also points out that while Twin Peaks was a relatively short-term phenomena in the U.S., it kept hitting the top of the TV ratings around the world. "It was like a domino effect. I was doing press for years. Long after Peaks died in the U.S., I'd get these hysterical calls from journalists in Pago-Pago demanding to know who killed Laura Palmer. Or I'd get transatlantic calls at four in the morning from radio guys who'd introduce themselves as 'the Howard Stern of Oslo.' God, it went on and on." And, of course, wherever the show peaked, the music went with it and so, quite often, did Julee. "I ended up touring Japan, New Zealand and Australia. The Japanese are still obsessed with Laura Palmer." The Voice Of Love also marks Julee's writing debut with her song, "In My Other World," co-written with Louis Tucci.

"While I was touring with the B's, I wrote constantly. Unlike most touring musicians, I like tour buses, the mother ship. I like to retreat into the dark claustrophobic comfort of my bunk area. I'm not very social. It was a stimulating environment. I miss the bus. I got a lot of good material and this is just the beginning."
Julee had to quit a three-pack-a-day cigarette habit before recording Floating Into The Night. This time around, she underwent surgery. "I had my nasal passages bevelled out to equalize the resonance. It always bothered me." Julee just completed filming Cultivating Charlie, a new movie by director Alex Georges scheduled for release in early '94. "It was a ball getting back to acting and working with Alex. I got to play a really juicy, off-beat character role. Really, everything I do is a kind of character role, including my music." Julee lives in Manhattan with a couple of dogs and her husband, Ed. --Edward Grinnan [And In The Dark]
