It is likely that CBS and Bob Schieffer chose these guys because before this past week they were the names most often mentioned as VP picks for Obama and McCain. However, Bayh got some bad press last week because of some opposition by liberal bloggers to his selection. So, last week, it was looking like Obama might choose Biden instead. Who knows??
Anyway, I thought Bayh and Pawlenty each did a very good job of defending their guy, which wasn't really the point of Schieffer's questions. He was asking them about Russia and Georgia. Nonetheless, I am quite impressed with Pawlenty, and even though I think Bayh got the best of him, Pawlenty is a serious and credible choice for McCain. If Obama loses the election, I can see Pawlenty coming back for the Republicans in 2012.
Bayh got some good zingers and got to make the last comment.
