Is there any way to kill the posting of every nested quote ?

Maybe it's just me, but some of the quotes take scrolling forever just to get to the bottom.

Nesting just the direct quote would seem to be enough... to me.

It's weird to me, too. I thought quote used to just quote the persons post you were quoting. I'm having a devil of a time with many nested posts and who posted what.

I would like to be able to quote only the posts I choose to respond to, as it used to be. smile.gif

I am a computer dumbo, but I would assume this is a tech problem cross many different boards
I have seen the same thing recently elsewhere
Maybe an upgrade gone loco?

I actually prefer it this way. Although I do try to be conscientious about deleting more than two in the nested quotates. It gives some sort of back tracking in regards to replies in giving context.

I find it a pain in the neck and a waste of time to delete all the quotes not relevant to my post.

I can understand.
It is a matter of preference. I don't mind either way, I just like having the option that it allows for it.

Either way is okay...I just prefer the way it has been for many years.

Well, it is more for the sake of having the ability to do so rather than not.
I liked it before as well, however I did note that it did not allow me to make a quotation of a quotation, to show the why for of a response.

Something like, someone would give a long tirade, and then someone just says "I disagree due to such and such" in a few words, then if you have to quote the one who disagreed, with little explanation, one doesn't immediately figure out the reason for your response sometimes.

However, I can agree that to most, that it can be a pain, and I can do without it.

Understood. I can go either or.

See? This is a case in point. Some sites have their members police themselves with runaway quoting, stipulating the "3 quote" rule, where you can only back-quote up to 3 times, otherwise it looks junky.

one thing annoying if one tries to edit quotes out, but mistakenly edits the quote quote itself, then everything messes up
lol

Yeah, that is true. I have a hard time with those myself now and then, especially when it becomes long articles.

Some even reply while quoting the big article, which should be edited a little to shorten it, or at least take the appropriate parts. I guess, you may be right, for this site, it would be best to take that off.

I wish there was a character limit on signature lengths myself.......
