I have been to two Springfields (one in Mass. and one in Virginia) quite often, and know of some others (like the ones in Illinois and Missouri). You need to specify which Springfield.

Just heard on a news report this morning it's Springfield, Illinois. VP announcement on Friday; campaigning together there on Saturday. Also, Joe Biden was questioned and it's not him. I think Biden would be best as Sect'y of State anyway.

Joe denied saying that. He said he has not been contacted.

Just repeating what I heard on a regional cable news network which typically has less biased reporting than the national cable news folks. Maybe Joe was referencing he had not been contacted about the VP spot. At this stage of the game, that would be the same as saying it's not him.

Obama has NOT told the winner who it is, so of course he hasn't been contacted, as he wasn't notified (and Biden would accept at a moments notice)
Whereas reports have indicated both Daschle and Bayh have already been contacted that it was NOT them.
As they are holding tight with the winner's name so it don't leak out, of course the winner has not been contacted yet.

BTW, now that Obama has quit the Trinity Church, would they still haul the church from Chicago to Springfield like they did when Obama announced for the Presidency in Springfield last year? One of our posters provided the interesting tidbit that Obama announced for the Presidency from the steps of that church.
