"Why do we celebrate Christmas in the beginning of winter? The answer is found in the Book of Nature. All life begins with a seed, buried in the darkness of the earth or a woman’s womb. Winter is the season when a long work of germination is carried out in the seeds sown in the earth, ending in spring with the birth of a multitude of new existences. And an identical work takes place in the psyche of each human being: in the dark earth of his lower nature, the seed of the divine Self, the Christ, must begin to germinate. It is this event that Christians celebrate on Christmas eve. Yes, it is at night, at midnight, at the moment of the most profound darkness that a birth takes place. This is why, in spite of the cold and dark, Christmas is also the festival of light."

"It is in reference to a cosmic principle that ‘the Son’, the second person of the Holy Trinity, is called the ‘only son’ of God. This cosmic principle has been given the name of Christ, and through his work, Jesus identified with this cosmic principle. Just because we use the same words ‘father’ and ‘son’, we must not confuse human realities with cosmic realities. God the Father is the principle creator of all that exists, and his Son, whom Christians call the Christ, is his first emanation. It is this Christic principle which must descend into each human soul by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order for each of us to become a true son or daughter of God. Jesus was a conduit for the Christ, he was the voice of the Christ, he served the Christ and he identified with the Christ, but he was not the Christ. As a cosmic principle, the Christ can incarnate in a human being who has prepared himself to receive it, but no human being, no matter how exceptional, can be the one and only incarnation of God. This makes no sense."

"Suppose you have two tuning forks, both of which are tuned to the same wavelength: if you make one of them vibrate, the other, without being touched, also begins to vibrate. We call this resonance. This is a physical law, but it is also a law of the spiritual world which is important to understand, because by means we can attune ourselves to the divine model of which we are a reflection. In doing so, we cause our spirit to vibrate, and the cosmic Spirit responds to us. And when we cause our soul to vibrate, the universal Soul responds to us. This can also work in reverse: the cosmic Spirit or the universal Soul vibrates, and when your spirit and soul are tuned to them, they too enter into vibration and receive their messages. Likewise, Cosmic Intelligence diffuses certain ideas, and when your intellect is tuned to it, it receives these ideas. This is how you become a true son or daughter of God: by knowing how to resonate with the corresponding forces in the universe through your spirit, soul, intellect, heart and will."

"Instead of allowing themselves to weaken and be laid low, human beings must learn to put all their defects and weaknesses to work so that they become useful. Some of you will say: ‘But we have to wage war against these defects, we have to annihilate them!’ Just try, and you will see how difficult it is: it is you who will be annihilated! In order to triumph over your faults, you must find a method other than fighting them. Whether it is a matter of gourmandise, sensuality, cupidity or vanity, you must learn to mobilise them so that they stimulate you to advance in the spiritual direction you have chosen. All these inferior tendencies you think of as weaknesses are in reality forces. You know all too well all the energy they represent. If you are alone in your work, you will not go far. If you chase your enemies away, if you suppress everything that offers you resistance, who will work for you? Who will serve you?"

"‘When you pray,’ said Jesus, ‘go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret.’ How are we to interpret this secret room? It is obviously not a physical space with four walls, but a state of consciousness. When you succeed in creating silence and peace within you, when you feel the need to express your love for the Creator, you are already in this secret room. For a moment, at least, you have succeeded in attaining this region of the soul and spirit which you carry within you throughout eternity. Why is it so difficult for most people to gain access to this secret room? Because, just as they are unaware of what takes place in their subconscious, they are also unaware of what takes place on high in heaven – in their heaven, their spirit, their divine consciousness. It is here that you must direct your search, and you will find the secret room, this state of great concentration, peace and silence where everything else fades away, where there is nothing other than your prayer, your inner word, which travels the universe."

"To amuse the public, the night clubs, theatres, television and radio in so many countries present their leaders in ridiculous and grotesque ways! ‘Many of them deserve it,’ you say. This may be so, but even if they deserve it, this is not the way to urge them to improve themselves. On the contrary, constantly exposing them to criticism and a lack of respect by their citizens creates conditions in which they make bad decisions and other mistakes. If you truly want to help your country, instead of continually denouncing the person in charge, send him light so that he may always be inspired. You cannot help your country as a whole, because it is immense, but it is enough to help just one person. It is easier, and this one person can do good for everyone, because he is in charge of many things. If he succeeds in having good laws passed for public heath, housing, education and employment, everyone will benefit from the fact that this one person has been so inspired."

Each of you can do this on your own, of course, but the effects you produce by yourself are not as powerful unless you understand other laws. Those of you whose life circumstances keep you physically isolated must become conscious that wherever you are, by means of thought you can join the entire collectivity of beings scattered throughout the world who ceaselessly work together for the Kingdom of God. It is not always possible to join the others, it is true, but you must never forget to unite with them by means of thought."

"How can the New Year be truly new when the people who greet it continue to stagnate in their same deplorable thoughts, feelings and habits? The New Year is like fresh, pure water, and if you want it to preserve its freshness and purity you must tend to the state of the containers in which it will be received. Isn’t this what you do every day in your kitchen? When you pour clean water into a saucepan, you first check the condition of the saucepan, and if it is dirty, you wash it. Well, when it comes to receiving the pure waters of the New Year in the containers of your heart, mind and soul, you must apply the same rules as you would in your kitchen. In other words, you must undertake a thorough inner cleansing. "

"All human beings have a vague feeling that somewhere there is a place meant just for them where they will be happy. But very few have found this place. When a seed is planted in the soil, it germinates, grows and bears fruit. It says: ‘I’ve found my place!’ Its true place was not in the granary where, with a multitude of other seeds, it would have dried up or perhaps been devoured by mice and grubs. Its place was in the earth. Most people are like seeds, waiting in the granary for someone to come and sow them. They have not found their place and are not ready to germinate. And yet, we are all called to find our place, and no one can deny us this place God has reserved for us."

"The cosmos obeys the law of rhythm. Everything in the universe is rhythm, and the human being himself is part of this great cosmic rhythm. Whether we are aware of it or not, each of our biological and psychic functions is governed by the laws of rhythm. And depending on our way of life, on our thoughts, feelings and actions, we enter into greater or lesser harmony with this universal rhythm. Since the dawning of humanity, music and dance have represented man’s attempts to re-enter this universal rhythm, or to maintain his connection. This is why, at one time or another over the course of history, all cultures have considered music and dance to be of divine origin."

"Through prayer and meditation, you enter into relationship with higher regions where you accumulate certain forces. Then, if you need to speak, your words are meaningful, vibrant and effective, because they are full of love, light and divine force. This love, light and divine force are known as the Word, and it is the Word which imparts its power to the spoken word. To explain this idea further, we can say that before you express yourself in words, you have thoughts and feelings, and these are the Word. Spoken words are the forms, the words you choose in a certain language to envelop your Word and make yourself understood by others. The Word itself finds immediate expression in the invisible world, such that all creatures, even the angels and archangels, can understand it. But whether you address human beings or angels, you must begin by working on your Word, which is to say, on the thoughts and feelings it will convey. "

"However difficult the circumstances, love is a remedy which is capable of restoring your equilibrium, your health and your life. Life and love are connected, and for life to circulate you must call on love. Yes, life springs from love. Where there is love, there is life, and when love fades, death approaches. All religions teach us to love the One who gives life. This Being who fills the universe can be found everywhere: in the earth, in plants, in water, air and fire, in our organism, in the sun and the stars, everywhere, and it is here we must look for him if we are to become more and more alive."

"Our psychic bodies are made of a substance so subtle that they encompass the entire universe. Each of us is therefore the repository of the cosmic archives. Everything that takes place in the cosmos – in the turbulent history of the worlds, even those long gone – sends echoes to us which are recorded in our subconscious. Unbeknown to us, then, we receive news of the universe. And when we decide to explore certain questions by way of meditation or contemplation, we are like someone who goes to the library to consult documents. The library is so vast and profound that the employees cannot immediately find the work we are asking for, and we must wait a certain time before our request is fulfilled. But sooner or later we receive it, and then we say: ‘I’ve had a realization, a revelation.’ In reality, it is simply that we have obtained the passage from the book we requested."

If you want heaven to notice you and to support and help you, you must become rich. ‘But how do we become rich?’ you will ask. Ah, you must work to acquire gold. In initiatic symbolism, gold represents intelligence and wisdom. With this kind of gold you can buy qualities and virtues which manifest as projections of light and colour. Then, attracted by this radiance they see in the distance, celestial entities will draw near. These entities love silence and are always waiting for these conditions which human beings very rarely afford them. The more evolved someone becomes, the greater his need for silence. He feels that in this apparent absence of life, he can in fact taste true life. For true life, life lived intensely, is a living silence. You will learn to seek out this silence more and more, for it is in this that conditions are prepared for the coming of celestial entities, and as they draw near you will feel the breath of eternity pass over you."

People have no idea what they lose by failing to understand that the elements around them – earth, water, air and fire – are steeped in the quintessence of the Divinity, and that through meditation, respiration and conscious nutrition, we can harness this quintessence and vivify all the cells in our body. In this way, not only do we improve our physical health, but once rejuvenated, purified and illuminated, our cells become good workers. As it descends to the plains, it becomes a river, and a recipient as well for the refuse and toxic matter discarded by the inhabitants living along its banks. By the time it reaches the mouth and plunges into the sea, it could poison anyone who drinks it. From its source to the sea, the river represents a hierarchy. We find this same hierarchy in ourselves, from the source, which is our divine Self, all the way to the physical plane. If we wish to drink pure life, we must detach ourselves from the lower regions of the physical, astral and mental planes and seek water in the high mountain peaks within us: in our soul and spirit."

"Love can be compared to a tree, and sexuality to its roots. Set deep in the human being, these roots cannot be torn out, and we must never attempt to do so. They are indispensable to us, just as the roots are indispensable to the tree. Only we must go further, higher, into the trunk, the branches and all the way to the flowers and fruits, for the flowers and fruits are the highest expression of love, which is sacrifice. The most spiritual love receives its élan from the sexual force, but you must learn to cultivate this force, to water it and protect it from insects and storms. "An act that begins badly is obviously likely to end badly. This being the case, certain events in people’s lives unfold with implacable precision, and these can be predicted as precisely as astronomers predict eclipses or planetary conjunctions and oppositions, because everything happens according to absolute law. But if they make great efforts, if they call on spirit, some who may have begun badly manage to change the course of events, for nothing is written in stone. When spirit has its say, events no longer unfold in such a mechanical way. Where spirit imprints its seal, elements change their nature and configuration; everything is purified and harmonized, and events take a different course. Nowhere is it written that what begins badly must necessarily end badly. "

"Initiates have understood the process of atomic fission for thousands of years, and during their meditations they are able by means of thought to disintegrate some thousandths of a milligram of their brain. It is from the energy thus freed that they draw their immense powers; they apply the principle of atomic fission to their own brain, which is a substance of extraordinary richness. Some may say: ‘I too know how to disintegrate matter: I had a fever of 40 degrees and lost three kilos.’ Yes, but in losing these kilos you lost your strength – the fever weakened you – whereas energy is freed from the minuscule particles that are disintegrated during meditation as it is practised by the initiates. That these particles are replaced by others of even greater luminosity and purity makes them all the more beneficial and life-enhancing. Even those who know they have exceptional talent do not fully believe in the powers of this gift. It must be an artist’s ideal to lead people in the direction of the Divinity. His name will then be inscribed in the Book of Life, where it will be noted that he has saved a number of souls from tribulation and death. It is not so much what you achieve that counts, but that you grow stronger in the process. This is why you must not take on vast projects straightaway, because you will lay yourself open to failure. To fail in itself is not serious, but with each failure you risk losing a little more faith and trust, and when your faith and trust diminish so do the forces associated with them. The desire to burn people or things is an expression of savagery. You will say that such acts are nevertheless quite rare. Yes, on the physical plane perhaps they are, but because human beings do not know how to use fire on the astral plane, in the realm of feelings, they endlessly light and feed the fires of passion in themselves and in others. I’m not saying you should never discuss your problems. Advice and support from parents and friends can be invaluable, but often people are not really looking for light and good advice. They simply need to unburden themselves. But in order to attract these beings and inspire their willingness to help us, we must lead a pure life in harmony with divine law. Otherwise our thoughts and prayers will not be accepted by these beings; they will not even reach them. The spirits on high only take our way of life into account. If they see that someone is striving to act according to the laws of cosmic harmony, they are obliged to come and help. "Contrary to appearances, the psychic development of a human being does not coincide with his physical growth. It is a mistake to believe that when a child comes to earth, his soul, his moral and intellectual faculties, follow the growth of his body, and that later on, as his body ages, weakens and loses its vitality, his soul does the same. No, the soul of a child who has just incarnated is already in possession of all its faculties, but it is not yet able to manifest in all its power. This is why the soul works on the child’s physical body while largely outside of it, until it can inhabit the body fully. In the process it encounters many difficulties, of course, but this is what it is trying to do throughout a person’s life. If, as the years go by, man seems to be blessed with new faculties and talents, even into old age, it is because the soul continues to take possession of his body and to express itself through it."

You can change everything you like, as long as you never abandon your high ideal. Once you have decided to walk the path of light, no matter what happens you must keep to this course forever. You can change everything else, but never abandon your divine orientation. You must understand this well: stability does not mean immobility. If you meet a true master, you will find that he is never rigid and fixed. On the contrary, either physically or by means of thought, he is constantly travelling to visit, teach and heal those who need him. It is inwardly, in his convictions, that he remains unchanged. Some will even begin thinking about the Gospels, about Christ; they will go to church to light a candle and pray: ‘God, forgive me my sins.’ And believing they have thus bought the Lord with a candle, they will quietly make their way towards death. But those who behave in this way will have to come back to earth so many times in order to learn! And to learn what? What is truly an illusion, and the worst of all illusions, is the belief held by most people that they are separate from universal life, from this unique Being whose existence fills all space. If they are unable to either feel or understand this, it is because their lower self prevents them from doing so. The principle aim of our work, then, is to detach ourselves from the limitations of our lower self so as to draw closer to our higher Self, which lives in immensity, eternity and plenitude. "He who wishes to enter the realm of divine Providence must become a worker in the field of the Lord. Then when his creditors, which is to say the cosmic moral laws he has transgressed, come to find him and demand that he pay his debts or be dragged into court, the Lord will reply: ‘Leave him alone, he is my servant. – Yes, but he has debts to pay! – What debts? For how much? – He has committed such and such an offence, he has broken such and such a rule. – I understand, but he is my worker, he works for me; leave quietly and I will pay his debts.’ Because God is just, he does not chase away the creditors who have legitimate demands; he simply tells them: ‘I will pay for him, go in peace.’ Of course, this little dialogue between the Lord and the creditors is symbolic. It means that we are always saved by our spiritual work."

"From time to time during the course of the day, take a look inside yourself. If you notice any tension or agitation, stop immediately; otherwise this state will go on indefinitely with negative effects on everything you do. Once you have stopped, concentrate for a few seconds in order to calm yourself and make contact with the light, and then start again on a different note. Your new state of mind will take over. When people have suffered a bad shock or are anxious or irritated, they begin knocking things over, banging doors and bumping into furniture. Why? Because unconsciously they are trying to rid themselves of an energy they cannot control. But the more agitated they are, the more agitated they inevitably become. You must therefore do the opposite: be completely still for a moment. Only when you have calmed yourself can you continue your work in the best conditions. "

"What is the function of the skin? In surrounding our body, it is like a frontier where customs officers examine travellers and their luggage as they present themselves. When certain travellers or unauthorized products are considered undesirable, they are forbidden entry. In the same way, the skin is responsible for admitting only those elements that are beneficial for our health and for eliminating those that are harmful. Washing ourselves, for example, contributes to our well-being and physical health. But if we do it in the right state of consciousness, we can also absorb forces and currents which keep us in contact with cosmic life. We usually think of our skin merely as a protection or the organ of touch, but it also extends into the spiritual world, thanks to its ability to produce subtle secretions which refine its perceptions. In order to avoid destroying this etheric film and to maintain the skin’s ability to tap into spiritual currents, we must respect certain rules of living, for our entire way of life is reflected in our skin."

"Humility is a virtue which is misunderstood. To be humble does not mean to endlessly belittle ourselves, but to turn our sights toward the heights, toward those who have surpassed us. When we look at these beings, we instinctively compare ourselves to them, and naturally we see ourselves as very small. This is true, but we must not be content simply to contemplate these magnificent beings and do nothing. We must progress, for true humility leads us toward perfection. In our desire to imitate those who have surpassed us, we advance. In our desire to become perfect like the Lord, we become truly humble. There are those who claim that in fact this is arrogance, but they are wrong. Did Jesus, who put so much emphasis on humility, intend to encourage arrogance in human beings when he said: ‘Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect’? Reflect on this and you will understand how, by taking the attainment of the Lord’s perfection as your ideal, you will advance in true humility."

"What does it mean to believe in God? In fact it has little meaning. We must communicate with God, we must touch him and feel him, and when we do we no longer even have to ask ourselves whether we believe in him: we are living him. To believe implies that the object of our belief is outside ourselves, that we have never truly felt it: we believe but without really knowing why we believe, or even what it is we believe in. People say: ‘I believe’, but this does not mean very much; they must go further. Atheists are also believers in their own way; they believe God does not exist. It is just as much a belief, except that it does nothing for them, for one cannot live something which does not exist. Doubt about the existence of God has no reality. It is a non-existence, and one cannot taste or nourish oneself on this non-existence, whereas it is possible to taste the reality of God, and not only to taste it, but to live it."

"The spirits of light never use violence with regard to human beings; they never impose themselves or come to live in someone unless they are invited. On the other hand, the spirits of darkness are insistent; they impose themselves and cling like leeches. If you want a visit from the angels, it is therefore up to you to invite them, saying: ‘I am the proprietor here, I am the master, so please come in. Everything is at your disposal, it’s all yours.’ When these luminous beings sense they are carrying out the will of the proprietor, they enter. And in order to do so they can even become bold, falling on the devils and chasing them out: ‘Go on, out with you!’ At this point, yes, they do not hesitate to impose themselves, but unless the master of the house has invited them, they respect his wishes and do not enter."

"When Jesus said: ‘No one comes to the Father except through me’, he was identifying himself with the cosmic principle of the Christ, the son of God, emanation of the Father, which exists in every human being as a hidden spark, as his higher soul. This means that man cannot truly enter into relationship with God except by means of his higher soul, through which he is united with the Christ and, through the Christ, with God himself. Only our higher soul, which is a pure quintessence of the Divine, can go to meet God. We prepare for this encounter with meditation, contemplation and identification. These exercises lift us out of our earthly burdens and project us all the way to our true Self, which is one with the Divinity."

"When anguish and torment begin to assail you, you must not stand your ground and struggle against these negative states, because you will not be able to loosen their hold. You must find other means. When a bird is pecking in the soil for seeds and a cat approaches, what does the bird do? It does not stay there to confront the cat; it flies away. You will say: ‘But how do we fly?’ By moving, through thought and prayer, to the regions where peace, beauty and light reign. Certain books and pieces of music can help you, as well as contact with nature and work with your imagination. What is essential is not to remain where you are, but to move to higher ground."

"Once they decide to begin serving the Lord, some people become unbearable, to the point of falling out with family and others around them. The whole world must know that they have become great mystics, great saints, and this creates conflict and confrontation. No, this is not the way! Those who decide to dedicate their life to God and to love him above all else must develop ever more generosity and love in their heart for their neighbour, because God is love. If your search for God leads you to crush and massacre others, you have understood nothing. If you want to draw closer to God, you must begin to think and feel that all human beings are in you and are you, just as he is. Then, rather than fighting them and becoming a monster, you will feel their needs, their worries and their suffering, and you will be filled with the desire to help them. This is how to love God and to move truly closer to him. "

"Those who do not put themselves in service of the light necessarily serve the darkness. This is an implacable law. Willingly or not, consciously or not, if you fail to choose heaven, you are headed for hell. If you do not make the decision to climb, you will come tumbling down. You may think: ‘The light? Heaven? What on earth is that? I want to be free!’ Well, you will not be able to prevent the forces of darkness from coming to dwell in you. Those who seek this kind of freedom will discover slavery. They fail to realize that they are placing themselves under the influence of dark entities which are only interested in exploiting them. They get mixed up in things, imagining it is they themselves who desire and decide, when in fact they are carrying out someone else’s business. Most people are like children when it comes to understanding freedom: they believe they are free when they engage in all sorts of unreasonable and dangerous things, which will eventually limit or even destroy them. They open the cages of wild beasts which will tear them apart and devour them. Only the wise know that to be free they must first limit themselves, by placing themselves in service of the divine world."

"There are those who come to reproach me, saying: ‘Master, you have told us that we must be open to others, and it is our wish to follow your advice, but we have been deceived and betrayed…’ Of course, it is always my fault! But did I say you had to be blind? No. If you see that someone is unfair, dishonest or mean-spirited, don’t close your eyes and tell yourself that since it is important to trust, you should overlook his faults. On the contrary, you must keep your eyes wide open; you must not delude yourself. But at the same time, seek by your attitude to neutralize the negative manifestations in this person, and even to awaken the manifestations of his divine nature. Real trust is based on vigilance, not on blindness."

"Why do you demand so much of nature, of other human beings and of the Creator? ‘We have our needs!’ you will say. Yes, exactly, let’s talk about these needs! Take a look at who it is in you that needs. Where does this voice come from that asks for comfort and pleasure, that rejects effort, restraint and obligation? It is the voice of your lower nature. And is this lower nature really and truly you? No. The lower nature is part of you, but is not you yourself. It is a kind of material you must work on in order to feed your higher nature, which is immortal and eternal. It is with this higher nature that you must identify. As long as you confuse yourself with your lower nature, you will say to yourself: ‘I want this, I need that, I am hurt, I am suffering…’, and you will never find light and peace."
