Launching!

The CommonGroundCommonSense team wishes to thank all of our members for helping to make this website so successful in just over 4 months!

However, that success brought with it extra expenses for us. It wasn't long after CGCS first went online that our membership pushed the site's bandwidth over our limits and required us to purchase our own server. Although some sites allow members to donate, CGCS wishes to become a self-sustaining community by requesting that all members share in the cost of the board fairly and equally. This will allow us to continue to grow while still remaining affordable for everyone. Today CGCS will begin taking membership subscriptions for the nominal fee of $7.95 per year. This amounts to only 2 cents a day....2 cents for your 2 cents! Current members have until Tuesday, March 15th to check out our new features! After that date, the site can be read for free but participation will require a subscription. Just click here to subscribe or go to the following address: http://www.commongroundcommonsense.org/for...tion&CODE=index Note: PM permissions will be turned off for all but subscribing members immediately.

As one of the fastest growing political forums on the Internet, CGCS has grown to over 3,750 members with over 200,000 posts - and with good reason:

CGCS offers extensive coverage of national and international News from numerous sources and discussion of the major issues that affect our lives. Stop by our online Café, and if you're motivated to do more than just chat, get busy in our Action Items forum! The CGCS administrators and moderators are proud of the fact that we keep the conversation free-flowing but civil. Few political forums now online are dedicated to civility, political diversity and tolerance. Now, we plan to offer our members much more: integrated forums, blog, chat rooms and online gallery access with just one username and password; the opportunity to contribute your articles to our companion E-zine and other interactive websites; featured speakers in moderated chat sessions and forums; expanded use of multimedia; email accounts, opt-in email newsletter, CGCS merchandise and more!

In addition, we will make a donation to Doctors Without Borders DoctorsWithoutBorders in the amount of all proceeds over our operating expenses. We feel that most everyone agrees that this is a worthy cause, and in line with our overall objectives.

In 1905, political discourse was civil and intelligent. You could mail a letter for 2 cents. Doctors made house calls, and you didn't need a second mortgage to pay for health care.

In 2005, posting on CommonGround-CommonSense.org is like writing a letter to hundreds of people at once! CGCS has proven that political discourse can once again be civil and intelligent, and costs the same as sending just one letter in 1905!

Together, we may even be able to help find common ground on issues important to all Americans. 2 cents a day for your 2 cents! We welcome your participation in our community!

Common Ground Common Sense Launches A New Approach

While watching the pundits squabble about what blogs represent, basically unfettered pandamonium, we have decided to become THE oasis in the sea of futility known as the blogosphere.

This week our members will be the first ones to be able to venture in our new oasis. Planned features include, hosted chat sessions, political think tanks, an improved blog experience, a Members point system, an upgrade on our Media Response Section and much more.
